Just bought this lens and omg is it sharp. I had the previous model (50-150 2.8 HSM II) and while it was sharp it had focusing issues even on a 50D. This lens however is sharp as a knife with a great build to boot. I guess Sigma took so long to release this because they wanted to get it right QC wise. Well you know what, they did. They hit it out of the park! It focuses fast and accurately. Once you get past the increased size you realize how good a piece of glass it is. I now have this and the 17-50 2.8. It focuses well in low light. The OS makes a little noise when it is on but that is certainly no deal breaker.
I am happy with both not only because of picture quality but also the price. Don't trick your money on Canon glass when you can keep a few bucks in your wallet and use this. It is comparble to a L lense except for the lack of weather sealing. Plus you get a hood and a lense case. Last but not least it looks like a pro's lens to the average Joe. You can use it to do weddings, concerts and sporting events. Definitely the best 1.6X telephoto lens out right now for semipros and advanced users.
