Here it is, folks: your heretofore missing µ4/3 portrait lens. And what a marvelous little gem it is.

Why would you want this lens? Well, it's 45mm, and it's f/1.8, a combination which allows you to generate some serious subject isolation with its relatively shallow depth of field. This is the "DSLR blurry background look" that many people crave, and it's very difficult to pull off with most existing µ4/3 lenses (due to their generally slow speed combined with µ4/3's smaller-than-DSLR sensor).

Of course, f/1.8 isn't just there to isolate your subjects; this represents a dramatic improvement in low light performance when compared to any other native lens in this focal length. Your kit lens, for example, probably hits f/5.6 by here; this little guy lets in *nearly ten times as much light*. So you can use much faster shutter speeds and lower ISO, making low light shooting much more viable (since µ4/3 high ISO performance is lacking, fast lenses like this are crucial to make up the difference).

So, that's what it's for. Now the questions: how does it perform? Is it worth the cost? Let's look at the details.

form factor / exterior: it's very small. Its length is just longer than the original Olympus kit lens and just shorter than the current kit lens (when collapsed), and the barrel is much narrower than either in diameter. This is the 3rd Olympus lens to use the new silver styling, and I must say that it looks great on an E-P3. The lens is made out of plastic, but it's good plastic, and thus far I have no concerns about construction quality. The focus ring is massive and operates very well, much better in fact than any other Olympus µ4/3 lens that I've tried (presumably the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 would best it, but I've had no opportunity to use that lens yet). The large-ish front element is gorgeous.

image quality: well, I can tell you that it's superb, but if you have any doubts you should look for the scientific reviews on the 'net that give you LPMs and MTFs and all that jazz. I looked at some of these reviews and they will tell you numbers that match my experience in practice: this lens is great. It's tack sharp even wide open, and I've yet to feel any inclination to stop down for sharpness. This guy is made to be shot at f/1.8; do not hesitate to do so.

autofocus: oh, yes, this lens focuses very quickly indeed! I've heard that it is slower on older bodies (I have not tried it on my old E-P2, yet) but on my E-P3 there is simply no rival. In good light this thing focuses every bit as fast as more expensive lenses on my DSLR, and with incredible precision thanks to the µ4/3 CDAF system. It's also very quiet, making it a great choice for video, although continuous AF is still not comparable to that of a DSLR (which is a design limitation of CDAF, not this lens specifically).

lens hood: absent. Hmm. Well, this lens is small enough to easily shoot one-handed, so you can always shade it with your left hand. If you want a hood, it is available for a hefty premium, which leads me to my final point...

price: ouch. To be fair, this is a brand new lens, but the steep MSRP (which it currently sells at or even above) is really the only thing I can find to complain about. Give it a year and it will come down, perhaps, but this is a lens that I wanted to own very badly, and so I found this price acceptable.

Bottom line:

If you're trying to save a buck it will surely get cheaper over time, but ultimately this is a lens that every serious µ4/3 shooter will want to own. Get this, the Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7, and a µ4/3 body, and I dare you not to fall in love with the kit.

With this lens, µ4/3 has finally fully arrived.

**** Update 2012/09/24 ****

Has it been a whole year with this little gem? Looking at my calendar says "yes, it has" so I figure a brief update is warranted.

despite the plastic build, it's held up quite well physically. Zero issues.

I bought a knock-off lens hood for this thing on Amazon due to some flare that was occasionally evident shooting in broad daylight. Seems silly to have to buy something like that on the side come on Oly, throw us a bone and throw it in the box.

At this focal length f/1.8 is fast enough for any subject isolation I need. Yeah, it's not full frame, but it's good enough for me, and likely good enough for most.

You'll really want to have an ND filter for this. Since current M4/3 bodies normally max out at shutter speeds of 1/4000 and cap out around 200 ISO, you'll find yourself stopped down in broad daylight without one.

I find myself carrying an E-PM1, this lens, and the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens quite frequently. One lens easily fits in a jeans pocket, while the camera and mounted lens go in a small pouch (or, now that fall is upon us, jacket pocket). I could hardly ask for better in something so small.

The Olympus 75mm f1.8 High-Grade Portrait Lens has arrived as well, which you might consider as an alternative to this lens. If you're looking for more working distance between you and the subject, it would surely be a better alternative. Of course, that lens is in a whole other price bracket (not to mention the added size and weight of the metal construction), so the little wonder here will remain a better option for many.

We purchased a few of these for work(to be used with both the iPhone and iTouch). I would probably give this projector 3 1/2 stars, but it was not an option. We have not been using this very long, but those that have used it have been very impressed (it is better than what we were expecting).

Are these for everyone? I would say no. The picture quality is decent, but it does not come close to larger projectors that don't cost a lot more than this does. My guess is that a lot of people will want this because it looks cool, but I'd bet that most people will not use it much once the newness wears off.

The image is decent when viewed in a very dark room. The lighter the room, the more the image gets washed out. It does not take much light either before the image is washed out and only usable if you are fairly close to the surface you are projecting the image on. Even in dark rooms, the image is on the dark side (whites will have a bluish tint). There is a built in speaker, but it's basically worthless so plan on connecting it to some sort of external speaker.

I realize that the review seems a little negative and I don't want you to think that we are not happy with these. Like I mentioned above, we have been very happy with what these can do. The media guys will not be using these to show HD video to clients, but they will get a lot of use. We have a number of people that travel a lot for training purposes. They usually have to pack around a laptop/dvd player, projector, external speakers, and all of the wires needed to connect everything together. They are usually in smaller rooms presenting to small groups. For this purpose, the projector is going to work very well.

Here is what we have put together. Instead of packing around the equipment mentioned above, our managers now have their iPhone or iTouch, the Optoma Pico Projector, and a set of mini speakers from a company called Grandmax (Grandmax.com). The speakers are powered from the iPhone and are not much bigger than the projector (the sound is excellent for the size). They are able to show videos, pictures, and PowerPoint presentations(you need a program to convert the PowerPoint presentation to a video to do this)and not have to pack a ton of equipment to do it.

It will be exciting to see where this technology goes in the future. However, as for now, this projector does a decent job as long as you can live with the shortcomings. It's not perfect and a lot of people will not be happy with the quality, but it has the potential to be a very worthwhile tool if you have a specific need that this projector can satisfy.

I have been considering an Apple computer for a while now, and have been reluctant to buy because of the high price tag, compared to PCs with similar technical specs. For example, a Dell Inspiron All in One with 4GB SDD3 RAM, 500GB hard drive, 2.8Ghz processor, comparable graphics card and larger, brighter 23" screen retails for 599. For 1199, you can get the same Dell model with a touch screen, 1TB hard drive, 8GB RAM, 1GB video card, and a bunch of other stuff, running Windows 7. That's twice as much computer, right?

Maybe not. I went into a Best Buy store to play with a Mac, and spent almost two hours comparing this computer to the ones I just mentioned. I ended up buying the Mac, and am entirely convinced that it is well worth the price tag. First of all, even with less RAM, the Mac was faster and performed much better than a tech spec superior PC. It ran several memory draining and intensive applications, like video editing software, iTunes, and web browsers playing video SIMULTANEOUSLY without any noticeable lag. The programs all started up almost instantly, and everything just seemed to work. The PC that had 8 gigs of RAM could not perform all of those tasks at once without slowing down. Second, the Mac doesn't require a seperate anti-virus software purchase. It's supposed to be virtually unhackable, and you won't have like a dozen McAfee processes running in the background to slow your computer down. That peace of mind for internet security alone is worth the extra money to me.

One of my other reservations for buying a Mac was having to use a different operating system, and after years of running Windows, I didn't want to have to learn how to use a computer again. However, after playing with the Mac even for just a few minutes, I realized that it was very intuitive, and as easy to use as a PC. For example, when you want to print a document on a PC, you click the tab on the upper right hand corner, find "print" and clicksame thing as on the Mac. All of the menus are pretty much identical for the word processors and internet browsers, and unless you're planning on writing or editing the DOS, there isn't much you'll have to adapt to.

Finally, the software that comes with this thing is AWESOME. The photo/video software is amazingly useful, and I can't imagine anything out there that you can buy that is as good as this stock software. There is music editing, and a bunch of other stuff that is just as good as the photo software, and while I haven't had the opportunity to really try everything out yet, I don't think I will be disappointed with any of it. To top it off, everyone raves about the customer support you get when you get an apple product. I hope I'll never have to use it, but it helps to know that Apple stands behind their products. Bottom line is, I'm really happy with my purchase.

*Update Dec 28 2011*

I just read some of the comments on my review, and I just don't understand why people can be so defensive about why I think this outperformed the PCs that I tried and have used. I can say that I've owned dozens of computers in the last two decades, and I don't think I've ever had one that is as solid as this one. I've used it for almost a year, and to this date have not had even a SINGLE glitch. All of the programs perform as expected, I have not had problems with passwords or emails being hacked, and I don't notice any performance degradation. I don't know or understand technical specs as well as most folks, I don't need to "mod" my computer or do anything that's resource draining besides video editing, I'm just an average user. I know that PCs have their strengths over Macs, but as far as what an average user would need, I don't think it gets any better than a Mac. I've tried to find used Macs for my kids room on craigslist, and most go for about 3/4 80% RETAIL!!! Show me a PC that gets that kind of resale value. As far as the defensive PC users are concerned, I'm glad that you can buy a product that you are happy with at a fraction of a cost. For me, peace of mind is worth a little extra bread.

first 1080p tv. bought from bestbuy so as expected we paid about $80 more from what is the listed price here on amazon. out of the box, tv looks ok. i've seen lots of tv's with prettier bezel than this from other brands. but not really a big deal. looking at it from the sides, its obvious that it is abit thicker (maybe 3in) than those upscale lcds or led-lcd's(note an LED tv is just a LCD tv but with a different back lighting). still its fine for me, i was like "does a TV 2in thicker make our living room that much crowded?" well no. so overall i was pleased with the tv's aesthetics.

this TV is heavy btw. i just use the tv stand provided. the tv stand doesnt swivel btw. and surprisingly you dont need a swivel stand on this tv. i will explain later. so we pluged all the cable connections. we turned on the tv. did the "first set-up"(if you made a mistakeor want to change something you can just comeback thru the tv menu).

so we finally saw how the tv's picture looks like in manufacturer setting. the way i could judge the manufacturers settings in general (vivid, normal, cinema, game, custom) i think it is somewhat between OK and terrible. its either too bright, too dark or just doesnt suit to your likes. you really need to take time and play with its settings for a long time.i just tweaked the "custom"picture and left everthing else as it is.

playing with its settings, i thought the settings menu is not as optionated(or finely detailed) as the other high-end tv's. but its fine with me. at least you can calibrate the options that really makes the difference.

so after hours of calibrating the tv, we finally got over it. and i liked what i saw. the tv's picture quality is very comparable to those priced way more than this. the viewing angle is plasma like, very wide. the picture looks very good even from the wider angles. you will not even need swivel stands(but still having that would be better). i watched football and basketball on espnhd and it looked great, the colors are very acurate and you can see the benifits of having a 120hz refresh rate(i think a 60hz is ok, but a 240hz imo is just not worth it[thats just me]). HBOhd, hd movies and boxing looks fantastic. HD channels looks awesome and will make you think you got more than you paid for. i cant say the same for SD channels, well its just sd anyways. (i heard bravia with its "bravia engine" improves SD qualities better than this, but idk maybe its just a sony marketting gimmick and like $250 more). sound from this tv was good enough for me, very clear. overall we are very happy with the tv's performance. like brett favre said on his commercial "you will pay more but you wont get more". this tv definitely has a great balance between price and picture quality.

other things about this tv:

has 3 HDMI inputs(2 back, 1 side)

a SD card slot(uncommon for many sub $700 tv's, tho i prefer having a USB port instead of this)

PC input

ole RCA cable input

speakers are at the bottom.

takes about 5secs to show picture after pressing power button.

and oh dont get ripped off by buying those $40 HDMI cables.. $15 for a HDMI cable is actually too much.

so my preliminary review ends here. i will update this in the future..

UPDATE****11-07-2010****

initially gave the tv 5 stars. now its 4. though personally i will give this tv 4.5 stars.(rounding it to 5 seems too much, the tv isnt perfect)

the picture quality is great, i see some moments where i think the color(red) is a bit off, its just i cant seem to find the right balance in the settings. im still in the process of tweaking the settings.

*****12-03-2010*****

i have noticed that at times the feature "Motion pro 4" is better turned off. and as the other reviewer has stated, it doesnt have a 1:1 pixel mapping on 720p. and as a result of this you can only view about 95% of the picture.. it is like the tv zooms in on 720p images, so you cant see the 5% of the pictures edges.. 5% loss of viewing area may seem unnoticeable, but its not. when i noticed this its a bit surprising how much picture is lost. but with all that said im still very fine with this tv.

Sony VCL-DEH17R 1.7x Tele End Conversion Lens for DSC-R1 Digital

Sony VCL-DEH17R 1.7x Tele End Conversion Lens for DSC-R1 Digital Camera
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I have a DSC-R1 (see my other review) and have recently added the telephoto accessory lens from Sony to the toolbox. Oh, and its companion "adapter" too. This is not a cheap lens nor is it a lightweight one, but it seems to be a good one.

The front element of this baby is nearly 5" in diameter. What does that get you? No loss in f-stop to start with. That's right, the light-gathering ability of Sony's addition to the already phenomenal optics of the Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar costs nothing in terms of your ability to "paint with light". (On your credit card, is a different calculation may appear.) The size of the lens makes necessary the adapter "sidekick" mounting bracket. Why? Without it, the lens is unbalanced and, rather than a cheap screw-on extender, this allows the primary lens to gain a few elements to become a credible telephoto. It also has the advantage of allowing for the quick removal of the tele and use of the zoom on the primary lens with the adapter in place.

So you have a vision of running along the sidelines capturing every grimace on the quarterback's face as the defense floods over him? Not with this lens. Spring for the $8,000 Canon outfit, get two as you might get sacked yourself, and have an assistant to hand you your equipment. Hiking into the outback to capture the dawn mating of the Kookaburra? There are better choices. (Note to friends of the Kookaburra: I have seen one, and heard one, but have no actual experience with their reproductive practices.) On the other hand, if you occasionally need a bit more reach and can manage a tripod for mounting, then by all means pick one up.

And speaking of "picking one up", this lens can be hand-held and deliver acceptable results (better than using digital zoom or enlarging to get the same magnification), but only for nearly still subjects. For example, a yacht race from the race deck at the club. (My choice) The digital zoom (2x 120mm) at lower mega-pixels was good enough, but not great. A natural 200mm beats a stretched 120mm any day, which is what you get with the digital zoom alternative, but for fast shooting the combo may be too, shall we say "bulky".

Which brings me to my main point: why are we doing this? Photography I mean. If you see a camera a way to capture the visual poetry that your mind sees, then this camera and the combo will work for you, and you'll enjoy the experience. If you see a camera as a cool tool that makes a statement about who you are, well join the gear heads in the photo chat rooms and natter on about max-mega-pixel-mania and spurn the "point-and-shoot" in favor of a bag full of expensive interchangeable lenses. Frankly, some of the best photographs of all time have been captured on the spur of the moment, "point and shoot". With an excellent 24mm-120mm lens mounted on the camera, you'll get the shot 95% of the time. If you need to stretch you view a bit farther from time-to-time, by all means spend the $400 or so on this telephoto combo and look forward to some good photography.

I started in 2005 with the Ultra II series and have continually sold & upgraded as my needs dictated. I'm now using a Canon 5D Mark II which has HD video (I think we all know that by now), but the camera also creates a 30mb RAW file every time I snap the shutter. So, write speed is very important. I WAS using the Extreme IV series cards (45mb/sec), and even with the slower 4fps in the 5D2, the camera would hang after a few shots to write the data. Now with these new 16gb Extreme cards I get to hold down the shutter button and record WAY more images before the buffer starts to hold things up. What an improvement! This new series is worth every dollar. Remember, faster cards also give you longer battery life since the data writes faster, so that's another plus to these new Extreme cards. They are UDMA level 5 which is nice (the 5D2 handles up to 6). BTW, UDMA simply means that the card does a lot of the file processing, which gets you faster write speed. Non-UDMA cards make the camera do all the work when writing images to the card. If you have a UDMA-enabled camera, by all means get UDMA-enabled cards.

One last thing to help clear confusion on the card naming format: the 133X and 300X and all that simply means the speed that the card can write data. SanDisk doesn't use that prominently in their marketing, they tend to say "30mb/sec" or "60mb/sec", like that. Lexar uses the ###X format all the time. So when shopping around, keep this in mind:

SanDisk Ultra II: 15mb/sec (the original version) Lexar calls it 100X (this older model SanDisk is NON-UDMA)

SanDisk Ultra II: 20mb/sec (the updated version) Lexar calls it 133X (this older model SanDisk is NON-UDMA)

(Thanks Uri for the correction in Comments!)

SanDisk Extreme III: 20mb/sec (the original version) Lexar calls it 133X (this older model SanDisk is NON-UDMA)

SanDisk Extreme III: 30mb/sec (the updated version) Lexar calls it 200X (this discontinued model SanDisk is UDMA enabled)

(Thanks David for the correction in Comments!)

SanDisk Extreme IV: 45mb/sec Lexar calls it 300X (The discontinued SanDisk Ducati line is also 45mb/sec and UDMA enabled)

SanDisk's New Extreme: 60mb/sec Lexar calls it 400X

SanDisk's New Extreme Pro: TRUE 90mb/sec Read & Write Lexar calls it 600X

Hope that helps understand all of this!

UPDATE (12-29-2009): I also wanted to mention that I've owned nearly 15 SanDisk CF cards since 2005 and I have never had ONE fail on me. I learned a trick from a pro: after you COPY (not MOVE) your images onto your PC, always format the card IN-CAMERA before you shoot again. Don't use Windows to delete your images off the card. The CF cards get grumpy for some reason (no matter what brand you use). I've shot 20,000 images on four different camera bodies, and never one card failure in four years.

UPDATE (3-30-2011): My two 16GB cards sre still my workhorse memory, use them almost daily, not one failure. This 60mb/sec line of cards is probably the best value for your buck, you get speed, reliability and storage room for not a lot of money (ha, you'd think I work for SanDisk, lol! Just a happy customer.)

UPDATE (7-12-2011): I did it... I splurged for a red/gold SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro CF memory card UDMA 90MB/s 600x (SDCFXP-032G-A91, US Retail Package). Wow, the write and copy speeds are even faster, amazing. It's been my main card these past couple months. But honestly, the red/black Extreme cards that are reviewed here are fast enough (even for video) and MUCH more affordable. As always, SanDisk cards are as stable as ever. Again, just make sure you COPY from the card to your computer, never delete images off the card using your PC. Then, format the card IN-CAMERA before each new use, and your cards will work and last a very long time. I know, I already wrote this in my first update, I can't stress it enough!

UPDATE (8/7/2012): Another year and 10,000+ more images shot including a wedding two weeks ago, and the SanDisk CFs keep running at 100%, ZERO failures. They do get stress tested between photos and video on my 5D2, and sometimes it get so hot here in Phoenix that the camera actually hangs due to overheating, yet the cards don't fail. Even if one did at this point it's irrelevant, I'm a SanDisk user for the long haul. In fact, I now have my editing PC running on a SanDisk Extreme SSD 120 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SDSSDX-120G-G25. Sorry if this sounds like a commercial, I REALLY don't work for them, lol! I just appreciate quality stuff.

UPDATE, 7/5/2013: Only the new Lexar 1000x cards are faster than the SanDisk Extreme Pro! The new Lexar 800x series cards can READ fast, but the write speeds are WAY slower than the SanDisk Extreme. That's why they are half the price of the 1000x. The 1000X are really fast, I use a few in my 5D Mark III and coupled with UDMA 7, we're talking 29 RAW images at 6 fps before the buffer kicks in. BUT, you will NOT see that kind of speed in earlier models that aren't UDMA 7. Therefore, The SanDisks are still the fastest in slightly older cameras like the 5D Mark II. Also, 5D Mark III owners, get this: The Lexar 1000X do scream at 140mb/sec in the 5D3, but only the 32GB and 64GB cards! The 16GB are 95mb/sec which is the same as the SanDisk. Weird, huh? The Lexar line is quirky, you have to know what you're getting. SanDisk is tried and true, and when they say 90mb/sec, they mean it, for both read and write speeds. Side Note: their Extreme II SSD in my PC is REALLY fast. ;-)

This camera isn't out a month and already the scalpers are trying to unload european T2is on us. Please don't fall for this and pay $200 above list price. Be patient and Canon will very soon release another batch of T2i cameras. It will be worth the wait, I promise. If you must have something instantly, get the T1i. It's a lot cheaper and in stock. The T2i has some nice improvements over the T1i like a sharper LCD screen (1.04 million dots}, 18 M.P. vs. 15 and a better movie mode. However, this is no movie camera. It's a still camera that takes video. If you shoot lots of video, get a Canon video camera. That's what it was designed to do. The T2i will go to 6400 iso on auto, a full stop faster than the T1i. Noise at 6400 iso is suprisingly absent. It has a user friendly menu, easy to navigate and unnessary for most shooting applications. It handles slightly diferent than the T1i in that the left grip is a bit thicker and must be grasped more firmly. Autofocus is very fast and accurate. As this camera is very light and smallish to hold, and easy to drop, I would recommend the acc. bat grip. It makes vertical shots very easy to take and gives you more shots per charge especially when using flash or extended live view. Some reviewers have claimed that the T2i or it's kit lens doesn't take sharp photos. What they have failed to notice is that in portrait mode, images are deliberately softer for efect. In the P or auto mode, there is no problem. The manual explains this. The kit lens is no L lens but it is quite sharp. The manual itself is not a work of art and I would recommend one of the many field manuals that are certain to follow. They are more in depth and take the time to better explain all camera functions. They are available here at Amazon. All in all, the T2i is very very nice and a pleasure to use. Nikon will have a very tough time topping it.

I am so pleased with the camera it really is start of the art and the best camera for your buck right now. There are maybe a few more cameras out there that can beat the resolution but they all cost 2 and 3 times as much.

I was afraid when making this purchase. But I'm sure glad I did.

I have been using it for 2 days now, and love it..so here is my review.

Pros: +Phone is beautiful, big as a Samsung Note 3.

+The touch screen works flawless, a bit lag sometime.

+Battery last pretty long for a big phone..5-6hrs on wifi websurfing.

+Takes pretty good pictures & video..but NOT the best.

+Beautiful HD display, great for watching Youtube.

+Comes with (2) 2600mAh battery, white flip case & a screen protector.

Cons:-phone only come less than 2GB of ROM, not 4GB as described.

-Battery is 2600mAh not 2800mAh as described.

-Speaker phone and ringtone is not loud..scale of 1-10 loudest is like 6.

This is an update review:

After 2 weeks with this phone..I have fall in love with this phone..

+ Battery last almost 9 straight hours on the wifi internet.

+Touch screen works flawless

Only negative is the speaker.

Ordered this on April 24th from Amazon got tired of waiting and ended up getting it from Sammy's. I take well over 20,000 shots a year ( I have reached 43,000 on my G3 and its still going) I have had the GX1, G3, G5 and now the G6.

Spent a full day testing it and here are some results:

Better than the G5 in terms of IQ and sharpness by at least 30 percent and on par with the G3 but much better colors than the latter. The image quality of the G5 was a downgrade from the G3 in my testing over the past year and I tried 3 copies of the G5 and with the 14, 20, 14-42 and 45-150 lenses.

Better features than the G5 more filters/WiFi/NFC/time lapse/60p video Panasonic Image app, etc. etc.

The LCD is very clear and very accurate just like the G3 (the G5 was horrible in colors on the screen and did not accurately represent what you were taking a picture of).

Navigation through menus and the Touch Screen are much faster and shot to shot is faster than the G5 and G3.

Picture Quality is very sharp even in low light (see night shot on back porch).

The build at first seems a little more plasticky and lighter than both the G3 and G5 but after holding it and using it for a bit and picking it and carrying it around for a day, it seems the right balance doesn't tire your hands and doesn't seem like it will break easily oh and the battery compartment is a lot better than both the G3 and G5.

The 14-42 Kit lens is so much smaller than the previous ones and more solid (metal) it looks small just like the Olympus ones.

The video is also better on the G6 than the G5 by 20 percent.

Focus is also faster and more accurate on the G6 than both G3 and G5 and is very noticeable if you have used either of the older models for any length of time.

Overall the images come out really nice and sharp. Colors like red and blue and others are beautifully saturated.

I took higher ISO photos in ISO 1250, 1600, 2000 and 3200 and they are very clear indeed again much better than the water color effect the G5 had at only 1600.

The battery life is better than the G3 and around the same as the G5 which is pretty good.

I ordered the new F3.5 14-140 Lens and will probably wait forever for it, but seeing how that it is also a smaller lens compared to the prior 14-140 and m43 lenses in general are small you have a complete imaging machine in your hands !

My friends this camera has the best of everything you could want from a camera for the Family, enthusiast and even semi-pro, great image and video quality, cool filters, features like stop motion and time lapse, the ability to control and share images from a phone or tablet, nice compact lenses, snappy response.

Goodbye Dino-SLRs !!! you are too big, too heavy, too expensive and do not have better image quality and I am saying this after trying a bunch of Canons and Nikons.

******* UPDATE: 7/2/13

I tested some more features today and I am still convinced that this is the best compact camera to buy right now.

The new lens and subsequent in-camera software do a great job of eliminating practically all distortion ie. I am not seeing the outer parts of a picture curved like the previous kit lens.

Also I tried some tree/branches and do not see any Chromatic Aberration (purple fringing).

Panasonic's Auto Focus, AWB and exposure have always been excellent, but this camera really does an excellent job and the color reproduction is so close to what you see with your own eyes.

Time lapse works really well and is completely configurable.

Panorama this is the only camera that does this properly AND allows you to do 4 different directions left to right, right to left, up and down and down and up !!! I uploaded samples.

Panasonic seemed to have fixed problems that the G5 had with the flash indoors colors would come out too orange.

I used the WiFi feature with the Panasonic Image App from the Play Store on my Galaxy Note 2 to take pics and video and it is very fast.

The ergonomics of the camera are great, my hands are not getting tired of holding the camera and the grip is perfect.

If Panasonic made a camera like this with all these features that actually work and are not marketing gimmicks and popped in a nice big full frame sensor they would put Sony, Nikon and Canon out of business !

******* UPDATE: 7/12/13

Just received the new 14-140 F3.5 !

Again I got tired of waiting for Amazon and ordered it Tuesday night from PanaCam and received it Friday Morning !!

I now have probably the most full featured Camera Imaging machine available on the market !!!

The new 14-140 lens is not that big, its a little fatter and a little longer but balances the camera out perfectly.

I put a couple of pics to compare the size of the new lens next to the Kit lens.

I am going to spend the day shooting with it and post a review on the 14-140 lens Amazon page.

This is my first ever review but this Samsung series 7 17.3" laptop is simply AMAZING in every way so I felt compelled to write this review. OK, I received it yesterday afternoon via UPS (wish amazon would offer FedEx as an option). My first impression was just how Beautiful and sleek it looked not to mention thin. It seems to be very sturdy and looks well built. Plus only about 1" thick and although its a 17" with the small border around the screen is almost feels like a 15 inch in my opinion. Just under 5lbs on the weight I believe.

I turned it on and the matte screen was very clear and detailed and Bright. I was a little leary about it being a matte screen as I never had one and hoped the screen wouldn't look too dark or unclear. Not an issue! Two things I Love about it is that it is full HD with a 1920x1080 screen rez/size. And secondly it has a lit keypad with an option on how bright you want it to be. Excellent! Full HD and a lit keyboard are two important options to me. The JBL sound with sub woofer is the Best sound I ever heard on a laptop.

One thing I wish it had was a simple switch on it to turn off the intergrated graphics forever as to use the GT650M all the time. I had a lenovo laptop that had that. However there is still a way to do this if desired (I believe?)using the Nividia settings.(manage 3d-> "high performance" on drop down). I read from a few that the keybooard on left side will get very warm? I will say that may be true for some. I can only say that I set it up, adjusted settings and played around with it for about 2 1/2 hours straight and the keyboard on mine remained cool and not even an issue at all. Of course I didn't do anything very demanding yet. Noise level was extremely quiet on mine. It wasn't until I turned it off almost 3 hours later that I realized ..."Hey, I didn't even notice fan noise" there but very quiet for me.

The three things that annoyed me, I do NOT like are as follows:

#1. The hard drive is Large at 1 TB. Great! but is very slow and holds it back. Samsung should have put a SSD in it. Guess they chose not to to save money. I suggest swapping out the HD and replacing it with an SSD.

#2. Pricey. The price is more then I was hoping to spend. But well worth it. You get a superior product with many features.

#3. This issue has bothered me on every amazon purchase I make. This has to deal with amazon shipping. I really wish amazon would offer an option to us buyers prior to placing an order to use FedEx instead of UPS only. I always pick 2 dsy shipping and always my purchase shows up very late (6:30pm for this laptop)or even 3 days later instead of two. But again this is not related to the laptop itself and no fault to amazon.

My conclusion: In a nutshell. I am Extremely pleased thus far with this laptop. I would buy it again and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a top of the line very nice and fast laptop. Of course all of the above is strictly my opinion and of this specific laptop I received.

Part 1. Order and Delivery: 5 stars

The camera system was manfactured in and shipped from the Peoples' Republic of China. It was marketed by KLTdirect via Amazon. Neither the manufacturer nor the marketer has a website wherein the product line is described. The camera system, as sold via Amazon, includes exactly one monitor and one camera; I needed a system with two cameras. It was easy to order a second camera, via Amazon-supervised e-mail to-and-from the Kastonecorp main office in Shen Zhen, China.

A monitor and one camera were ordered on 11/25/2012, and were installed on my truck by 12/5/2012. DHL Express picked up the package in China and delivered it to my home in Edgewood, NM, in a couple days. The instruction manual is sufficiently clear to support installation and use.

The entire system--monitor and 2 cameras--will be installed on a 28-ft travel trailer being pulled by a F350 Ford truck. The first camera is mounted on the back of the truck's cab (is used to guide attachment of the goose-neck); it seems to be working as advertised. The second camera will be mounted on the back of the trailer (will be used to guide backing-up of the truck and trailer). The second camera was ordered 12/07/2012, was picked up by DHL Express in Hong Kong on 12/13/2012, and delvered to my

home in New Mexico on 12/15/2012,

Part 2. Attractive Features: 5 stars

At the time I ordered the camera system, it was the only system on the market with detachable transmitters.

a. The display is small enough to mount on the truck's dashboard without unduly obstructing the driver's view of the road, but large enough to be useful.

b. The cameras' wireless transmitters can be detached; one can mount a camera on the back of a trailer, and the camera's transmitter on the front of the trailer, where it can "see" the monitor. Cables need not be run between the truck and the trailer.

c. Night vision capability.

d. Water resistance.

Part 3. Performance: TBD stars

The central question: Are the system's features integrated to so as to produce a robust and usable installation? The answer to this question requires extensive hands-on experience. So it is TBD (to be determined) at this time.

I must say, I didn't have high expectations for this flash. I checked some of the reviews and they were mixed, but reviews are a small part of the reason I make a purchase. The flash is pretty well built for the price range, and seems like it will last for a long time. The optical slave NEVER misses, and it's extremely sensitive even when it's turned in the opposite direction of the master flash. Even though I'm a professional Photographer...to me...Light is light no matter where it comes from. If your flash cost you $500...can I use this flash an create the same image?...You bet I can...How you use your equipment is more important than what equipment you have. Don't get me wrong though...more expensive pieces of equipment usually have more options and allow you certain freedoms, but ehhh...learn with the cheap stuff, and once you see your limits with this equipment...move on from there.

******************************************

Update!!!!: 9/11/2013

First of all (today is 9/11) my condolences to those who have lost loved ones as I did in the attacks)

It has been ALMOST 2 years since I've purchased 3 of these flashes, and they are still working PERFECTLY!!!

I'm not a fan of spending money on things that will breakdown in the future, and these flashes have been banged around and thrown all over the place yet they still continue to produce excellent light for my photography needs.

I usually use them for background, hair lights, and sometimes as a filler when it's needed and they have been great. The construction is solid, ease of use is key, optical slave is super sensitive and reliable. When you have good batteries in them...the recycle time is quick. I recommend VERY good rechargeable batteries (eneloop and powerex have never failed me).

This is an great package, only additional equipment I'd recommend for a beginner is a tripod, hot shoe flash, and a bigger bag. Also the filters only fit the 18-55mm lens. But overall it's perfect.
