This is a very good camera to include with another similar size Nikon DSLR (I have a Nikon D90 DSLR) for a travel backpack. I have another Nikon DSLR, a D700, the pro camera, but I wanted to go easier on my back with two lighter camera bodies and a few lenses including the 18-200mm DX VR lens for my recent trip to Northern California. We were in very remote coastal places where you are challenged by rocky cliffs or climbing on the rocks! The Nikon D7000 worked very well with my Nikon D90 as far as using interchangeable lenses. I would choose a wide angle lens for one camera body and a telephoto lens for the other. Many of these truly lovely coastal views included great gusts of winds. You do not want to try changing lenses under those conditions!
I like the twin slots for the SD cards and the camera was easy to use. I found focusing my camera on hummingbirds and such much more challenging than with my Nikon D700. But I couldn't see myself bringing the heavier camera. I enjoyed using the Nikkor 18-200mm lens and the SB TTL 700 strobe. It was very convenient and portable!
