We have tested the product a couple times and I can say great things about the mic. Shure definitely has some amazing microphones over time but with this entry to the DSLR targeted market, Shure is making some headway.
I still give this 5 stars despite a couple not so great things
1. Pricing well, investment. You get what you pay for. $350 for an amazing product is a great thing. You can figure, A rode videomic pro is $220 + a Zoom H1 $100 + dual mount and cable approx $30 = $350 .... but you get a clunky and bulky equipment on top of the hot shoe. .... it is worth it... great form factor
2. battery life well it does have a battery indicator. If you are not paying attention, it's your fault. Always carry extra batteries anyway.
Highly recommended. For those who are curious, battery life will last long if you dont hit record it still records to the camera. But heck, play it safe and get audio.
