One of the best phones I've used. I've tried other smartphones and this one is very good.

First I'll talk about the phone hardware then the OS.

Hardware:

Very solid phone, beautiful and large screen and the feel of the device is very nice in the hands. The rubberized material on the back lets you hold the device without dropping it. Feels pretty light and really this is the size smartphones should be; the screen is absolutely perfect.

The power button I feel is a little small it needs to be a little taller so its easier to push to power on, maybe its just the case I have it in now that makes it a little hard to push in.

Volume switches I find I accidently push these quite often and it changes the volume. While it's great they are available we should have an option to lock the volume rocker/buttons so they dont constantly keep changing the volume.

Camera button very nice and allows you to quickly take photos with a single click!! The camera does have an issue where it makes whites look pink there is supposedly a fix coming from htc to address this; appaerantly this same bug was in the htc hd2 and htc fixed that; this is a problem with htc's driver not with windows phone 7. The dual led flash on this device is fantastic and allows you to take nice bright photos at 5 megapixel obviously not the best camera in the world at 5mp but for a cell phone its really good. HTC throws in a nice flashlight app that they make which allows you to use the dual leds as a flashlight anytime you want its really really bright in a pitch black room it lights the entire room up crazy cool!

Soft buttons the buttons on the bottom of the screen back, windows and search work great and are very responsive touch them and easily take you back to the main screen, go back in an application or launch the search applications. Many times if you accidentally press these buttons while in a game you can easily drag your finger away and it wont kill the game and take you out of it very nice feature so you dont accidentally keep quitting an app/game.

The speakers on this device are pretty good; I havent had any problem at all with these speakers and they are quite loud when listening to music, playing games or on the speakerphone with someone else. The clarity is pretty good too.

The sound quality on the device is excellent when taking calls; recipients have no problem hearing you either.

Call quality/signal no problems at all with this phone; havent had a single dropped call when using this phone, you can easily switch to speaker phone at anytime by tapping on the screen and choosing the speakerphone option switching is instant and smooth.

Battery life I easily get one and 1/2 days usage out of this even with wifi and 3g on. Very good phone even if you are very busy and need to do some browsing, emailing and taking calls. Recharging the phone is pretty quick too whether you plugin to the wall or your computer. The plug is a standard micro? usb plug. It comes with an adapter that allows you to plug the standard usb end into a wall socket to get AC power too very nice design.

Software:

The new Windows Phone 7 OS is very fluid, slick and responsive no slow downs at all and smooth all the way through. Very easy to understand and use. You simply swipe down and up to choose any application you want. Need something on the 'homescreen' simply tap and hold it whether its a contact from your address book, an app, or a game you can easily organize and choose whatever you want to be on the front.

Swipe to the right and you have the entire list of all applications installed. All games are organized in the xbox live section so there is no clutter. The operating system was very well thought out and organized and is not a mess of static icons found on other smartphones.

Live tiles are excellent when the weather upates it shows you the temperature and the conditiosn outside (snowing, rain, sunny, cloudy, fog, etc). It shows you the day and month, time obviously, how many emails you have, how many voice messages you have, how many missed phone calls. You don't need to keep pressing deep down to find this information its all right there on the main screen. If you want to pull the phone out of your pocket and glance down you can do that too right on the lock screen it shows all of that information there too. Beautiful and efficient; no fiddling all day with your phone unless you really want to.

Over 4000 applications are now available in the marketplace, many of the games available are xbox live compatible full gamerscore, achievements, buddy lists, invites, sending/receiving messages all built right in. These games are not cheap ports from other smartphone os's these are all highly polished and unique games built from the ground up for Windows Phone 7. You have alot of great games like assassins creed, need for speed, deblob, frogger, guitar hero, hexic, max and the magic marker, project sunburst (crackdown), puzzle quest 2, the harvest, sims 3, uno. A ton of great indie games too like birdy bounce (like doodle jump), impossible shoota, unite. There are many more games and applications. You have great applications like Netflix you can watch full movies from your instant queue, add items to your queue. AP Mobile read about news events from around the world, ebay see your auctions, bid on items, manage you account, flixster see what movies are happening in your area, showtimes, locations, top movies, news. Built in youtube app that lets you watch youtube movies.

The built in applications like Office let you view/edit ord documents, view/edit excel documents, view powerpoint presentations, view/edit onenote, outlook view your email from multiple providers hotmail, google, yahoo, any email provider very intuitive and easy to use interface. Internet Explorer optimized and is a really good browser now; pinch to zoom and scrolling in internet explorer works perfectly, loading pages is excellent and fast no real faults at all with the new internet explorer. Music/Videos player is basically the zune interface beautiful; manages all your videos and music here and if you have a zune pass you can listen to your music from right here this works in the background too and you can play games and surf the web using this application in the background.

With so much good, what can be bad?

No multitasking for third party apps we need the ability to multi-task and choose what we want running in the background. Some apps really do need multitasking.

Copy/paste this is a minor issue but it can come in handy when copying things from a webpage/word and emailing it to others this is being added in a January OS update from Microsoft.

HTML 5 support currently internet explorer does not support html5; this really needs to be worked on immediately supposedly an update in august will add html5 too slow it needs to be added in asap.

Documents need the ability to drop documents directly from zune software and sync with office mobile.

Camera htc needs to fix the color problems with this camera; they fixed it in the htc hd2 so it shouldnt be a problem fixing it in the htc hd7.

Hands down this is one of the best initial Windows Phone 7 devices out there; this is nothing new from htc they make really exceptional hardware for Microsoft's operating systems. I hope to purchase the next HTC phone they make with Windows Phone 7 down the road ;)

I got this mid-december from amazon, here are my thoughts:

this is the europe version, so you wont be able to connect it using 3G, the US version is the rw800a

PROS

nice screen (4")

gingerbread pre-installed

upgradable to 4.0 (ICS) on mid 2012

gaming pad is nice

camera is great

CONS

size (with the covers its even bigger)

internal memory is a joke (500MB)

laggy with some games

"joysticks" are difficult to use

my biggest concern: the build on the phone isnt great, you can feel how there isnt a solid union between both plates (screen and gamepad) this feels VERY fragile and even cheap

I will start right off who this camera is not for. If you are looking for an all-around camera, this is not it (Get a GH1 or GH2). If you try to use it as an all around camera you will hate it. If you don't have a good fast camera already then this camera is probably not for you. If you are trying to take pictures of moving objects, this camera is probably not for you. This camera takes a fair amount of time to set up a shot so any fast moving subject will be very difficult to capture properly. This camera is in no way a beginners camera. If you are looking to just point and shoot, then you will need to look elsewhere.

If you like to take your time to frame and set the exposure on your camera then this might be the camera for you. If you want a small portable camera, with exceptional picture quality, great noise qualities, and a built in view finder, then this is most likely the camera for you. If you want an exceptionally quite camera, this one is amazing. There really is no other digital camera like it.

This camera reminds me mostly of shooting my Leica M8 and that is a good thing. If you think of the X100 as an automatic manual focus you can get some really nice shots.

I initially bought the X100 to shoot outdoor portraits and it does that very well. Better than any other camera around right now. That was the initial reason I decided to keep the X100. When I first shot with it I really did not like the handling and was thinking of returning it. My big mistake was trying to use this as an all around camera when it is not.

However, I just spent a week shooting the camera in Berlin and I really enjoyed using it. My kit was a GH1, GH2, and X100. I left all of my Nikons at home as they are too big and heavy. With interchangeable lenses and fast handling the GH cameras can cover almost every conceivable shooting situation. With a fixed lens and slow handling the X100 is limited in what it can cover. However, it makes you slow down and really set up the shot the way you want it. The DSLRS and M4/3 are so fast that it is easy to reel off a number of good shots. The X100 makes you savor each shot. Because of that I really enjoyed shooting it. Just as a comparison I shot 750 (2 battery charges) with the X100. And 1300 frames with the GH2. I had 465 X100 (62%) and 829 GH2 (64%) shots that I liked. I got 132 X100 (18%) and 205 GH2(16%) shots that I really liked. And I got 4 X100 (.5%) and 9 GH2 (.7%) that were my favorite of the trip. As you can see the statistics are very comparable. Use a tool in the way it was designed and you should be able to get consistent results.

The X100 fits very nicely in the Lowa Rezo 60 bag that I loop through my belt. It will also fit in a jacket pocket. I don't like carrying the weight around my I neck so I do not use a neck strap. Instead I purchased a very cheap wrist strap and use that to keep the camera secure.

The way I have the camera setup is as follows:

Quick Startup On

OVF power save Off

Display Option EVF and Back screen

Fn Button 3 Stop ND Filter

Auto ISO 3200 / 1/30

The reason I have the camera setup like this is as follows. I switch the camera off to save power when not in use. The quick startup allows for a .7 start. I use the EVF most of the time so I don't need the OVF power save on. Also, the OVF power save option does some weird things so I don't use it. I use the EVF and back display to switch depending on how I want to frame the shot either back screen or EVF. The camera switches between the two based on whether you put your eye up to the viewfinder or not. The 1/1000 max shutter speed is very limiting at f2 so the ND filter gives a 1/8000 equivalent and is built right in but is activated in the menus. I use it very regularly so I have it set to the fn key. I have the ISO set to auto because it is a pain to get to. The camera does a very good job of keeping ISO down until the shutter speed starts to drop below 1/30. The IQ is very good at ISO3200.

Here are a couple of techniques for using the X100. Both utilize EVF.

1) Set your camera to manual focus and spot focusing. Put the focus square on the subject. Press the focus/exposure lock button to focus the camera. Move the center to where you want to meter and press the shutter release half way to set exposure. Now frame for the picture and shoot.

2) Set you camera to auto focus S. Put the focus square on the subject. Press the shutter release half way to set focus and exposure. Frame the picture and press the shutter release the rest of the way to shoot.

On the down side the menus and buttons need some work but they can be fixed with a firmware update. An example of the poor menus deals with ISO. Setting the ISO is on the shooting menu. Setting up the Auto ISO and switching it on and off is on the setup menu. What is labeled as a RAW button would have been much more useful as an ISO button. I have not tried the video as it is a pain to get to buried in the menus and not as a distinct button.

One of the big selling items is the Hybrid Optical/EVF systems. I did not purchase this camera because of this. However, I leave the camera in EVF most of the time. The EVF shows you what the sensor sees and thus allows for accurate framing. The OVF is a guestimate and at close distances is not a very good guess. Therefore, the Hybrid system is overhyped. If Fuji had just put in a EVF I would have been happy. For those who must be able to see outside the frame and who are not bothered by a poorly framed photo then the OVF is a choice. The other issue with OVF deals with focus. The X100 is a spot focus camera. You can move the spot but it still focuses on one spot. That spot does not necessarily line up with what you see in the OVF. Therefore, you can get some out of focus shots when you think you have everything lined up.

A lot has been made of the X100 price tag. One thing to note is there have been some people paying 2x the price on ebay. There is no real competitor to the X100 as it is unique. However, the Leica X1 with OVF and Ricoh GXR with 24mm and OVF are close. The X1 with OVF costs 2x as much. The GXR with 28mm and OVF costs about the a couple of hundred dollars more but is a little pieced together, still has no EVF option and is not on par with the X100 build quality. Also, cameras invariably come down in price so you can expect for the X100 to come down some.

On the whole the camera is very rewarding to use and takes some fantastic photographs. But you are going to have to work for it. Maybe that is why you take more ownership in your photos Because of the high ISO capabilities and extreme quite abilities, this is a great museum camera. For a fixed lens camera, the 35mm equivalent is a good compromise walk around focal length around. Not too wide that you can't use it for portraits and not so narrow that you have to back up to get in wide items.

Pros:

Unique

Great Build Quality

Amazing Photos weak AA filter

Great High ISO on par with D7000 or K5

Deafeningly Quiet

Light

Small (Fits in a jacket pocket)

Great Satisfaction in Shooting Great Pictures

Cons:

Slow

Horrible Menus which you are forced to use because of the lack of dedicated buttons or quick menu system.

Manual Focus Almost Worthless

Back Rotating Knob Button Annoying and Frustrating to use

RAW button is a waste and would have been much better as a ISO or fn button

Overall this is a very satisfying and rewarding camera which makes great pictures. The camera is 4 stars because of the poor menu system and controls. However, the intangible reward you get from using this satisfying camera make it greater than the whole and give an extra .5 point for total of 4.5 stars.

Update July 9

I have been shooting with this camera for a little over 2 months now. It is definitely an amazing camera. The firmware update made the camera more useable and the optical view finder is now actually usable. There still needs to be further improvement but it was a definitive move in the right direction.

Something else I have discovered is the Auto White Balance is amazing. It is by far the best in the world. I was shooting at night with all sorts of crazy lights, incandescent, sodium vapor, moon, etc. The auto white balance pulled off the shot. Amazing. During the day the white balance is equally terrific. Additionally, while the autofocus was slow, ISO 1600 and F2 allowed me to catch night shots of slowly moving objects and keep up the shutter speed at 1/30. The results were fantastic. The camera would not always lock focus but it allowed me to take the picture and more often than not the picture was in focus.

Still not a beginners camera nor an all around camera, this camera has some amazing capabilities that no other camera can match.

I've had the Polk IHT 6000 Soundbar for a week now and it has been an interesting experience.

I got a new 60 inch Sony LED-LCD TV and was looking to have sound to match. My old sound system was really great with a Yamaha AV Receiver, 3 Infinity speakers in front, 2 JBL surround speakers, and a 10 inch Polk Subwoofer. The sound from that system was awesome, but the wires and speakers everywhere was too much for me anymore, and with the new big TV I no longer had room for the receiver.

I went looking for a soundbar and tried several. Sony, Vizio, and Polk. I tried the Vizio since it was the only soundbar out there with separate rear channels and a wireless sub. It was great looking and great in terms of functionality, but the sound was awful. Muddy, nondistinct, just all around bad. The Sony was OK, but a little tinny and I didn't like that you had to wire everything to the sub first and then to the soundbar... I was trying to get rid of wires. Then I got the Polk.

The Polk's sound is full and rich. The setup is easy, one audio wire, one power cable. I was very happy, but not thrilled and still felt a longing for my old system which went bye by on ebay. After doing a good amount of research, I found that I may have had the soundbar placed wrong. It was above my TV angled down, kind of close to the ceiling (this is in my basement so the ceiling is low). I decided to move the soundbar to just under the TV (They are both wall mounted). It is much closer to ear level now

All I can say is WOW. The difference in sound between the locations is astounding. I am now TOTALLY happy with the Polk Soundbar. The sound is full and rich and really great. It is NOT however as good as a true 5.1 or 7.1 system, but it is pretty darn close and considering how nice it looks and how easy it is, I have no regrets. The surround effects are good but not like a true surround system. If you need to have true surround, this is not the system for you. I am very happy with it, and with a blu-ray in the player, that sound really does fill the room. You do get the feeling that there is surround sound, but it is just a feeling, not the reality you get with a true 5.1 system. Don't get me wrong though the sound is VERY good.

With that said, there are some negatives. First off, there are no audio settings like bass or treble, there is however a sub level adjustment (more on that later). Polk feels that you get what you get. I wish I could boost the treble a little, or that they would put a quality tweeter in the center of the soundbar. The sub level adjustment is OK, but it is basically a volume control for the sub, and there is no level indicator, so I have no idea if it is set at 1 or 10. It is just a guess.

I have also listened to the B&W Panorama soundbar and the Yamaha sound projector. Those 2 units do a better job than the Polk, the Yamaha is slightly better, and the B&W is a lot better, but the Yamaha is a thousand dollars more expensive and not nearly worth the extra expense for such a slight improvement over the Polk. The B&W is truly amazing and a true audiophile solution, but at well over 2 grand, it was way out of my price range.

In conclusion, the Polk soundbar IHT 6000 is in my opinion the best soundbar out there under $1500.

There are times when you need to play your music loud. That isn't a big deal if you need to boom your music/movies in media room, but if you need to take that type of performance on the road you options are more limited. There are a variety of bluetooth speaker and ipod docks and while many of them are easy to use and highly portable they are rarely loud. In fact, the Pyle Pro 15" Powered Speaker passes the loudest bluetooth speaker that I have used (The Supertooth Disco Twin) at less than 30% of its total volume.

Make no mistake, the Pyle Pro 15" Powered Speaker is not intended to compete against small bluetooth speakers. Not even close. This speaker is designed to fill large spaces with with sound. It can fill anything from backyards, dance halls, to church auditoriums with total sound. In the video portion of the review you can see how loud it is at only 40% of its total volume (I was afraid to turn it up much louder for fear of upsetting my neighbors!).

The best part of the speaker is the cost the Pyle Pro 15" costs less (significantly less) than most 15" subwoofers that are the market. The Pyle Pro offers 1400 watts of power, a 1.75" titanium horn tweeter, multiple types of inputs, a hard plastic shell at a very reasonable price.

Notes-

In terms of sound performance as mentioned it is very loud.... in all settings. This speaker is loud enough to be used for DJ'ing weddings at dance hall (or a fraternity party).

I like it for use as the primary speaker for outdoor movies. I combine this speaker with a projector to show backyard movies with the right set-up this can make for an awesome neighborhood movie night.

The sound quality is more than acceptable, but it is hardly subtle. An audiophile may complain that the bass is a bit punchy and that the horn tweeter can come across as bright... and the combination means that the midrange is a bit undervalued.... but who really cares? A Two-way, 1400 watt speaker that features a 15" woofer is not designed to have the cleanest most subtle soundstage.

Frequency response of 40Hz to 22kHz although I would not be surprised if the frequency response was a little lower than the 40Hz.

Has a microphone input which allows it to be used as a public address speaker or for Karaoke.

The built in iPod/iPhone dock is a nice feature, but it is a bit awkward to use. I greatly prefer to use (although it is not included) the Aux-to-RCA splitter and directly plug the speaker into the headphone jack of my iPad.

Allows you to insert a SD memory card to play music directly from a memory card

Features a small remote control that is mainly used for use with the SD memory card.

Has a USB input so you can play music from any source that has an USB output.

Has gain controls for both bass and treble

Using an auxiliary output-to-RCA splitter and a small bluetooth device (like the Jabra Clipper) you can turn the Pyle Pro Powered Speaker into a HUGH and LOUD bluetooth speaker.

Has a hard plastic shell which has been pre-tapped so that it can be bolted (both vertically and horizontally) to a soundstage/mounting bracket.

Has a switch that allows the speaker to accept either a 110V or 220V source.

Has built in handles to help carry the speaker, but they don't help with the weight (weighs about 50lbs)

The manual is not exactly helpful it is about 4 pages and really doesn't offer much information on how to use the speaker.

Final verdict There is nothing subtle Pyle Pro 15 inch it is both large and loud but the great thing is that it provides a high level of functionality (as a backyard speaker, studio monitor, and sound stage speaker) at a very reasonable price. For me, it makes nearly the perfect speaker for backyard movie night so if you are in market for an inexpensive all-in-one speaker I would highly recommend that you investigate the Pyle Pro 1400 Watt 15 inch Powered Speaker.

I have reviewed a significant number of products , plus my current cameras that I have enjoyed. This camera really presents unbelievable options for "point-and shoot". It also gives individuals the opportunity who like to manually adjust the functions of the camera. It's telescopic lens is very powerful and makes distance shooting a real pleasure. Picture quality is excellent.

I have no negatives but all positives. Here are some of the features that I really like:

1. Great Telescopic lens

2. The camera offers 3 modes. "Automatic", which is a simple point and shoot with the camera adjusting accordingly. "Expert", The feature allows you to do all the manual adjustments that you prefer. In using your adjustments, the camera even prompts you on the results expected to achieve with your adjustments. The graphics for adjusting your lens , a truly sensational. Any person can feel really comfortable using the "Expert" mode. This mode is really great for professional or advanced type of photographers.

"Smart " Mode. This is my favorite. There are 38 different scenarios. Some of these are , Sunset Pictures, Low Light Room, Snow Pictures, Portrait Pictures, which really enhance faces. I am not a photographer but enjoy cameras. I decided to take a sunset picture and set the camera in that mode. Unbelievable results. It was as simple as point and shoot. The camera will self adjust to the scenario and come up with a fantastic result. The "Panoramic Scenario" is super. If you take a picture of the horizon. You pan the camera across , taking 3 individual shots. Because the camera is GPS noted. It makes sure that each separate shot lines up with the previous pan shot. Again on my first try. I took some great panoramic pictures. On this type of shot, a tripod is easier to use. As mentioned above. 38 different preprogramed settings for your picture desire. I am now proud to show some of my pictures to my friends.

3. WiFi Feature. This is truly a benefit. As I will explain later you can use your camera as a Tab, Galexy, I-Pad. To continue. The Wifi Features allows you to send your picture to your computer. Or send, the picture by email or messaging to your friends, directly from the camera. I enjoy editing and do the like doing the work on my I Mac. When I come come, I just turn on the camera and and through Wifi send the picture to my Mac. This transfer is accomplished by a program called "Kies" , and is part of the cameras software package. The set up with your computer should be very easy.

4. Communications feature. This is a great feature. When you go shooting scenes , you will not need additional devices to communicate. E-mails, Messaging, Chatting, maps and location, GPS driving instructions, Web surfing, can all be done by the camera. That is what I call a real convenience. About the only down side is: this is not a phone. But, it has all the features for a camera including Tab, Galaxy, iPad , type of activities.

5. I had considered, getting a camera with attachable lenses. For my purposes, I am glad I got this. The variables a great and I don't have to fiddle with lens attachments .

6. The camera is a little bigger than your standard Point-and-Shoot camera but can fit into your pocket. The screen display is very easy to read. The software of the camera is really friendly and easy to work with. I chose the White color and get a lot of compliments on the aesthetic (design ) of the camera. It easily fits into your hand .

7. In addition, If you wish to edit your picture on the camera. The camera has a great software to really enhance the picture. Because of the great screen display, the editing is easy to do.

This camera, I also believe is a good choice for a professional type of photographer. I really believe that , Samsung has perfected a "top of the Line" point and shoot type of camera. I am very, very , pleased; and feel that this is a-"Must Have",-for everyone.

I personally own CS5.0, CS5.5, and CS6.0. I was quite pleased with the CS5.x series, so I upgraded to CS6.0 as soon as it became available. What a big mistake! It doesn't work properly. The video frames froze or displayed solid colors or blocks of solid colors. I tried to import projects made with earlier versions of Premiere Pro that performed properly with those earlier versions, and they did not function properly with CS6.0. I tried to recreate those projects from scratch with CS6.0, and had similar dismal results. I reported my unsatisfactory and dismal results to Adobe in bug reports.

Since I own CS6.0 I will spot check Adobe's progress in fixing the bugs in CS6.0; however, I will not hold my breath waiting for an Adobe fix update that works. I will continue to do all serious work with CS5.5 as it does work properly now. On the plus side, I can run both CS5.5 and CS6.0 side by side. If Adobe does decide to fix CS6.0, I will update this report to reflect that progress.

Update

I just installed the latest software update and retested Premiere Pro. Nothing that I reported on here initially has changed as a result of this software upgrade.

Updated 2012-0917

I just installed the V6.0.2 software update and retested Premiere Pro. I tried recreating from the ground up those projects that worked perfectly with V5.0 and V5.5 and failed miserably with the newly released V6.0. The stuff that failed miserably still fails miserably the same way with V6.0.2. The stuff that worked, still works. Importing projects into V6.0 from V5.0x are the same. Things that failed before still fail. Things that worked still work.

I did contact the Premiere Pro design team about the problem. They have an attitude-superiority problem. I am just a "mere" individual customer not worthy of a response. Being a an experienced design engineer, this total lack of engineering professionalism turns me off totally about the product. I still use CS5.5 as I can rely on its working properly with my projects.

Updated 2012-0928

I just installed the V6.0.3 software update and retested Premiere Pro. Nothing new. I recreate everything from scratch to avoid carrying production errors caused by previous bugs forward into the realm of the new release. Still broken as expected. Still unusable.

I have been so concerned with the horrible video drop-outs and bad video previews, that I have observed that I did not report on the audio dropouts. They are there too. CS6 is seriously broke in many respects. It is bad enough to be technically deficient, i.e., have software bugs, but to not care about correcting those technical defects is inexcusable. Other Adobe divisions take quality defect correction (bug fixes) very seriously. Premiere Pro does not.

And based on my limited contact with Adobe Premiere Pro engineering and many years practicing engineering, Adobe seems to have amassed a Premiere Pro engineering team that considers itself too important to have to care about technical defects in existing released product, i.e., so important that they can spend their time working on "fun" stuff and not waste time on mundane bug fixes of existing product.

Stick with the CS5.x series.

Updated 2012-1001

By accident and playing around, I discovered a mechanism to circumvent the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 bug that created many video and audio dropouts. This discovery also defined exactly the Adobe Premiere Pro software bug that caused my problems and needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, the Adobe Premiere engineering folks are much too "high and holy" to communicate with just a mere low individual mortal customer like me, so I do not know to whom at Adobe, a person who cares about bugs and bug-fixes, to communicate my bug fix. It would be nice to see the fix incorporated in the next update release. Is there someone at Adobe who cares? I would raise the rating from zero stars to many stars if it were fixed !!!

I looked at several brands of digital photo frames. Every time I came back to the Sony because it stands out for picture quality, sharpness, features (lots of features), ease of operation. Even if immediately you don't think you would use all of the features, pay the money and get it anyway. You'll be surprised how all of a sudden one or more of those features is a neat thing to have. The internal memory is large, slideshow, individual view, and picture selection from any source is so simple you can start using most of the features right out of the box. Even the owners manual is extremely user friendly. Yes the price was a bit much but put the Sony next to the others on the market and there is no comparison for picture quality. One downside: you have to use a power cord. I found a couple of portable power sources but power plug on the Sony is not the typical power recepticle found on most products. Thanks Sony....how about making a portable source available? I would love to place the frame on a table for display without having to find a place to plug it in. I found only one brand of frame with a built in battery but the picture quality was no where near the Sony so I opted for the Sony hoping that I could find a portable power pack or hope I will always have a place to plug it in. Price is starting to come down so be patient if price is your obstacle. It is well worth the wait.

We purchased this system a couple of months ago for our motorhome. We just got home from a trip and loved it! Shipping was very fast. I broke a little piece off the monitor stand and they shipped a new one out the same day at no charge. Very nice people. Very easy to install. I installed the wiring under the motorhome while my husband installed the camera and hooked up the power supply. Our rearview mirror inside the motorhome is useless so we intalled the monitor above the mirror and leave the camera on the whole time we are travelling and use it as a rearview mirror. Now we can see our towed vehicle and all the traffic behind us. It eliminates all blind spots. It is just awesome! We feel much more confident now travelling with this camera/monitor system. It works great at night too. We highly recommend this system.

I want to contribute a review because nowhere have I found detailed comments on the usability of the focus ring for shooting video. I could have done with a review like this before taking the plunge.

The focus ring is very smooth and a little tighter than other Canon focus rings. In real world use, the tightness doesn't hamper smooth focus pulls because the diameter of the focus ring is large enough to achieve very smooth movement with a gentle start and finish. There is no play in the focus ring at all. It's very well put together. In comparison with the EF 24-105 f4 IS L lens the 35mm f2 IS is smoother, a little tighter but therefore with no play what-so-ever.

The smoothest focus rings I've ever used are made by Olympus on their m4/3 prime lenses. The Canon EF 35mm f2 IS is equally smooth but with a little more resistance and therefore not as fluid.

The image stabilisation for video is good. I would rate it at 3.5 out of 5. In comparison, I would rate the EF 24-105mm f4 IS L lens image stabilisation as 4.5 out of 5. The EF 24-105mm f4 IS L lens is much more effective in comparison. I can hold a very steady shot even at 105mm. It really is incredible for hand held video use. Simply throw away the silly frankenrigs.

The 35mm f2 IS has far quieter IS than the 24-105mm f4 IS L. The zoom lens is pretty quiet and very usable but I can only hear the IS on the 35mm if I put it up to my ear.

If you're looking for a 35mm lens for handheld video this is it! There simply isn't anything else.

For stills. It's razor sharp, very fast, accurate and quiet to auto focus. Worth every penny.

***NOTE (4/24/12):

***

This camera is straight out fantastic. I have been using it for about 2 and half weeks now and it takes really crisp and sharp pictures. Although sometimes the pictures don't come out great but that is to be expected. This camera looks exactly like the previous model the WX9, i think the only difference is the screen size and the better digital zoom on this camera (WX50). Outside in the sunlight this camera performs flawlessly and the shutter speed is really fast with very little shutter lag. If you use the regular auto mode it tends to be faster at taking a pic and processing it right away, but if your use the auto plus mode the pictures comes out better but it takes about 1-2 second to process but it is well worth it and it is fast to move to a next shot right away.

I absolutely love the sweep panoramic feature, it is one of the main reasons that I wanted to get a sony cybershot camera and because I have previously owned the cybershot T70 camera which was fantastic as well. Another feature that I like is the background de-focus mode. It creates images that resembles a DSLR with the bokeh and blurred background. Although it is not perfect everytime but it is consistent meaning about 8-10 shots would be perfect with the blurred background and the other two shots would be blurred too much or too little or just in the wrong place. I used a DSLR as my main camera but when I travel or go out with friends I like to bring along a smaller camera for the convinence. I initially was going to buy the HX9V but that camera was a little too bulky for me although it is absolutely great at producing sharp images (I've actually used my friend's HX9V for 2 weeks so I do know what I am talking about).

Aside from all the great features I will deffinitely buy this camera again or another sony cybershot, except for the lower end models because of their horrible shutter lag.

I have also posted some sample pictures too if you want to check out how well it performs :D

***UPDATE 4-18-12

This camera has performed fantastically over the last few weeks. I want to mention that I experienced the lens being stuck twice. It's not like a lens error message thingy where the lens wont retract but it was like when I hit the power button the lens won't come out. Through my experience, I just pulled out the battery and reinsert it and the problem was solved. Like I said it only happened twice but I solved it the same way twice. This is why I get hesitant buying the cameras where the lens goes in and out.

Another feature that I am really getting addicted to in this camera is the HDR filter and the TOY CAMERA filter. The HDR filter is really neat and it comes in handy if you want to get more details out of the picture where the lighting is dim or where there are a lot of shadows. There are THREE (3) sensitivity levels that you can adjust. For me I only like to use it on the low level because I find that medium and high is just a little too much for me. The low setting works great and it doesn't over power your images with the "HDR" effect which I know that most people aren't a fan of. Its just another way to get more out of your shot with the high dynamic range, but thats just me, i find it really handy.

As for the TOY CAMERA effect, I use it sometimes but not very often unless I want to give my pictures a vignetting effect. Thats what the toy camera effect does, its just gives the picture a vignette which is pretty good looking in some photos but I wouldn't used it too much because it makes your picture a little bit on the darker side and you can lose some details. I prefer the sony's toy camera effect over canon's because it doesn't give that bluish greenish lomo color to the images. You also have different options for it such as NORMAL, COOL, WARM, GREEN, and MAGENTA hues that you can add to the effect. Also you can use these effect while recording video which is also a plus, just dont switch to video mode but instead just hit the record button while in normal shooting mode with the effect selected.

My final thought of this camera is that this camera is really good, you just have to be creative and use it wisely. The camera itself is just a tool, it just helps express your creativity and capturing a still moment in time. Happy shooting everyone :D

I am an avid reader of reviews and many times use this information to help in my buying decision. Since I suppose I am like most others who shop, compare, read, read some more and still can't decide I hope this might help in your quest for the right camera. Of the cameras I tried, all were very nice and I would be happy with any of them.

I have been looking for a camera that will give me the biggest bang for my buck! I hope to spend more time using my camera as a hobby. Until now have used my point and shoot Canon S3IS digital for kids, family, show choir and sporting events. The Canon S3IS is a great camera; I just want to step up a bit.

I started looking at used Nikon camera bodies as I had an old Nikon 2020 35mm film camera with the 35-70mm & 70-210mm AF lens. I stopped by my local camera shop and found my old lenses would work on the Nikon D50, D70, D80 and D90 bodies. I didn't find anything used locally or on eBay (too expensive) that I wanted so I looked at the new Nikon D90. Since Canon is the other big player in this field I decided to consider their cameras as well.

Both manufacturers offered what I wanted in a camera; the ability to capture video, able to shoot in low light and had quick and accurate autofocus capabilities. I tried both brands back and forth for several weeks and preferred the Canon T1i. I proceeded to sell my older Nikon equipment to help pay for the Canon T1i and move that direction

While saving for my new purchase and reading about digital SLR cameras I became aware of some of other SLR brands. I found several online reviewers that had good comments about these less popular cameras. Sony, Olympus, etc had nice features but for one reason or another I took them out of contention. Sony, I thought the lenses were too expensive. The Olympus just didn't click with me.(pun intended) Pentax had very good remarks and had similar capabilities as the Canon T1i. Best of all, the Pentax is considerably cheaper than the Canon.

What helped me to lean towards the Pentax Kx was that I was able to watch some video shots taken with the Nikon, Canon and Pentax on Google. I preferred the Pentax video, it didn't seem jerky in motion. Still pictures side by side were also very similar in clarity. I also read several reviews comparing the Canon and Pentax side by side with very similar remarks about the performance of both cameras. The biggest positive comment about the Pentax was the exceptional low light pictures it could take. The biggest complaint with the Pentax Kx was a battery issue mentioned by a number of reviewers. I called Pentax and spoke with a technical rep about the battery issue and any other issues Pentax might be having. I was told the battery issue has been taken care of with a firmware update. I must say I was impressed with the tech rep. He was very helpful, took time to discuss his products and said that if I ever had a problem with my Pentax to give them a call as they were here to help me out.

I can use any Pentax lens, new or old on this camera. The lenses I will likely use most is the 55-300mm or the 18-55mm. Both these are included in the kit I purchased. Since vibration reduction is built into the body of the camera instead of the lens, any lens I use will automatically be a vibration reduction lens.

I purchased the Pentax Kx with the 18-55mm and 55-300mm lens package for $653.00 on Amazon. It stated the Pentax camera kit would ship in 1-4 months but I ordered it on Friday and it arrived the following Wednesday, less than a week's time, not bad!

My thoughts about the camera.

Positives:

-It's a fairly compact body but not too small. My wife likes the size and it's not heavy hanging around the neck.

-The menu is fairly straight forward (I haven't had to pull the book out yet and can still get around easy enough!)

-Takes very good pictures in several of the modes I tried. Very pleased.

-The auto focus is relatively fast and hits dead on at what I am pointing at.

-Some nice filter features are included in the menu options, great to play with but doubt I'll use them much.

-The low light pictures I've taken so far are impressive. When I downloaded pictures they were very clean, without any or very little noise even set at the high ISO setting!

-Used the batteries that are included and absolutely no problems.

-Lenses seem a bit light but balance well on the camera and focus smoothly.

Negatives:

-The shutter action could be quieter. This is my biggest complaint. It's not like everyone will turn around everytime you take a picture but I'd rather not hear it!

-The dust reduction feature rattles inside when you turn the camera to its side but I read that was normal as was mentioned by a reviewer. Otherwise I would have thought something was loose inside.

-I liked the view finder of the Canon. I think the information inside is a bit larger.

-The Pentax does not have auto focus points that light up when looking through the view finder but to me that doesn't make any difference. As I said when I pointed at what I intended to point at, it focused right on it, so this to me is a mute point.

It seems a bit slow when first reviewing my picture after each shot but I think that is due to the cheap memory card I'm using. I'll get another one tonight and expect it to correct the slow process. If it doesn't, I'll update this review and mention it! Otherwise, assume it was taken care of with a faster card.

Overall Impressions:

Would I say it feels quite as solid as the Canon? No, but I really like the Canon! However, I am still very impressed with the Pentax Kx. The Pentax isn't quite as thick or wide and I think the size might be most of the difference. You know you're shooting a SLR and my wife likes it! For the price, I figure I saved close to $400 over the Canon with similar lenses. If you want a Nikon or a Canon I'm sure you will be perfectly happy. If you decide to purchase the Pentax you won't be disappointed in this camera either. It's not the big name of Nikon or Canon but I bet you'll start to see more of Pentax with what all they offer and at the price point it is offered for! My budget was limited to $1600.00 but of course I was hoping to spend less. That's a lot of money to spend on a camera and I could have bought up to a higher level camera which I considered but I am comfortable this camera will give me what I'm looking for and saved me quite a bit in the process. I added a few pictures on flickr that were taken with this camera to give you an idea of the photo quality. Remember, I'm not a pro, I just enjoy taking pictures. Go to flickr and search for scubaguy4409

Tips to consider:

I suggest when buying online you check the retailer thoroughly. I searched several sellers on both Google and Bing and found prices from $400.00 to $900+for a Pentax Kx camera kit. The two low priced sellers I checked on had horrid reviews about shipping and more importantly when I called to ask about their camera packages they were very short with me on the phone. I don't like to spend anymore than the next guy but i figured if I had a problem with my purchase I would be %$#% out of luck with this guy!

The 20-50mm non-OIS lens which comes with the NX100 is much much useless indoor if you are not using a flash. I wish they would include this lens with the NX100 instead. I like the NX100 more now since I acquires this lens. I can shoot indoor picture using available light now; something I wasn't able to do before with the old lens. Highly recommended!

A great wide lens, it is unique if you are looking at a prime with AF. And this was a deal breaker for me.

What does this review add to the other 8 reviews:

how does the lens keep its value over time (has not been mentioned in any of the previous reviews)

list of available alternatives

no one has mentioned the drawbacks of small form-factor

"dust magnet" behavior of the inner lining of the hood(this was the biggest issue for me (other than the fact that 15mm happened to be too wide for me)

Alternatives:

1. AF primes: Pentax-DA 14mm F2.8 more expensive, much bigger, may be too wide for many

2. wide-angle zooms by various manufacturers (Pentax, Tokina, Sigma, Tamron) Usually those are 12-24mm or 10-24mm. Some reviews claim some of those zooms are superior to the 15mm f4. Here is the list of available zooms in that range:

Cheaper than the 15mm f4 Limited: Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5 Di II

Similarly priced ones: Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

More expensive ones: Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM, SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL [IF]

3. manual primes:

Cheaper than the 15mm f4 Limited: Samyang (Bower) 14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC

More expensive ones: Sigma 14mm F2.8 EX Aspherical Rectilinear

There are other lenses however most of them have been discontinued and are hard too find. Note: cheaper vs more expensive above refers to Brand New offerings. If you are looking for used those lenses do not keep their value as well as the 15mm f4 Limited and thus can be purchased much cheaper (sometimes).

My buyng/selling reasoning:

Purchased one because I used to shoot wide a lot (~28mm in 35mm equivalent).

Sold mine because it did not see much use. Found myself to be much more comfortable with a fast zoom (Tamron 17-50 f2.8). 17mm happened to be wide enough and I really needed 50mm for portraits and 50mm is what use most of the time now). 15mm f4 still remains on my list only after I have a "normal" prime (28-35mm), a "portrait" lens (55-77mm). Maybe another fast zoom 50-135mm f2.8. Then I will consider another super-wide lens and if the prices stay the same, I will go for the 15mm limited again.

Image Quality:

The lens did not disappoint me. Distortions are smaller than I have ever seen. Of course if you will have people close to the edge of the frame it will be noticeable. For nature and architecture not an issue imho. There are a lot of technical reviews on this subject.

Experience with the lens/Handling:

Build quality is excellent. Size very small. So small it might be a disadvantage for some (for instance if you have big hands and like to hold onto the lens when composing). Even with my small hands it seemed too small on the K-5 body. (still, the small size is more a positive for me than negative).

Be carefull:

when using a polarizer with this lens: the field of coverage is so wide, the light is coming from completely different angles within the frame and might create unnatural effects with polarizer attached

compose carefully. Due to 15mm being very wide you have to watch for close objects squeezing within the frame.

Issues:

Most annoying for me was the felt lining of the inner side of the hood and lens cap. It is a dust magnet! Maybe that's the purpose of it, but it is quite hard to protect it from accumulating dust and removing dust from there. It might become an issue, as the dust particles on the inner side of the hood might cause some unwelcome light reflections (never heard of it happening though).

The major reason I have decided to sell this lens was that 15mm happened to be too wide for me.

Detailed score:

Sahrpness: 10, observed no issues here for my use of the lens

Aberrations: 9, unavoidable distortions for such a wide lens, noticeable when people close to the side of the frame

Bokeh: 4. I'm not an expert here. Not sure one should be talking about bokeh for such a wide f4 lens at all. I would qualify the 15mm f4 limited bokeh as flat and uninspiring. Though maybe this is what it should be for a wide lens.

Autofocus: 10 Spot-on and quick, no AF fine-tuning required on my K-5.

Handling: 8: Size advantage becomes a "con", so small it is. It also feels awkward on the K-5 body. Lack of aperture ring is a big drawback for me too (of course no DA lenses have an aperture ring if I remember correctly).

Value: 6. It is hard to talk about "Value" when there is not much to compare this lens too due to its uniqueness. Compared to the Pentax own 14mm f2.8 it seems good value, though not great and thus 6 points only. Considering there are a bunch of manual focus fisheyes at similar focal lengths at much cheaper prices (< $100), this isn't good value. Old manual rectilinear primes also can be found at lower prices. Good quality zooms offer stiff competition too, making the value of this lens less. Overall the price I payed (before the April 1 2012 Pentax price increase) was "good value" however one might expect even better value for a prime, while in this case zooms of similar image quality cost the same (sometimes even less).

Another BIG "pro" which was a big decisive factor for me as well:

When it was being offered brand new at ~$500 in the US the lens kept its value very well! And I believe this will stay like that for some time, due to uniqueness of this lens. We need to see what will happen with the resale price of this lens after the recent price increases.

Conclusion:

Despite a few negative notes in my review and despite the fact I have sold the lens, I strongly recommend it. For its niche, this is the absolutely right lens. It delivers and owners love it. Furthermore, it does not depreciate as many other lenses do. Which means you can buy it, play with it and if it doesn't fit your style, sell it with little loss!!!! (Of course if you buy it at a good price, which is not available in all regions unfortunately note I have purchased the lens BEFORE recent price increase on Pentax lenses)
