The Lens is heavy but adequate for moderate distances when secured to a heavy duty tripod or other vibration free device. Pictures will still be grainy even with 12+ megapixal due largely to air currents/heat distortion at great distance. For its reasonable price, it is an adequate lens with a few quirks requiring patience to focus and twin tripods, one for lens, one for camera to properly balance weight, use a remote to trigger shutter or a significantly long time delay or vibration will impair the picture
