I purchased one of these in late June 2012. Functionally the Pixel grip works fine, just like the real thing.

After a couple of photo shoot sessions immediately after receiving the grip, I left it on my 5D3 with 2 fully charged batteries and stored away. Fast forward to mid-July, I took the camera out and found the 2 fully charged brand new Canon batteries were completely drained. I know I double checked the camera and grip were both switched off when stored. I wasn't sure whether it's the problem of my also brand new 5D3 or the grip, so I charged the 2 batteries and put one in the 5D3 directly. A day later, checked the battery info, it still had the same percentage as when I switched the camera off. So I put the grip back on and put 2 batteries in it. All switched off again, of course. 13 hours later, one of the 2 batteries were down by 8%! So it would completely drain one battery in about a week's time.

I emailed PixelHK support. [Edit 7/25] Got a response back from the support after few days. They said the problem was found and fixed. I will need to send the defective grip back to the seller (mine is in Hong Kong) or to Pixel Hong Kong and get a replacement. I am in the process of sending it back to Pixel HK. I've added one star to my review because they appear to be responsive. [Edit 8/4] PixelHK apologized for the trouble and sent the replacement the same day they received my return.

[Edit 9/17/2012] After 47 days (Pixel HK sent out the replacement on 7/30 through Hong Kong Post surface mail) I finally received the replacement unit!

[Edit 9/18/2012 final] After 18 hours with 2 batteries left in the Mark III with the Pixel grip, one of the battery percentage barely moved 1% (I knew it was on the verge of dropping when the test started). So indeed Pixel had fixed the problem. All in all, the grip is good to go, the customer service is responsive, BUT, using surface mail that took 47 days to reach me is not very nice. Given that Pixel probably did not make much money out of each unit with such low prices. This is understandable though.
