VTech CS6429-2 DECT 6.0 Digital Two Handset Cordless Answering System with Caller ID

I looked at a lot of different landline phones before I purchased this system and I'm glad I did. The call quality is great, and the ringers are sufficient. The buttons are large and clear and have a great feel to them. They also light up for a little while when you pick the phone up from the base or press a button, so you can see them in the dark. [Yes, the screen lights up as well!] These phones just have a great look and feel to them; They don't feel cheap, and they work perfectly. The main base plugs into a phone jack and a power outlet, but the second phone base only needs a power outlet. You can always add more handsets if you find 2 isn't enough for you. VTech CS6409 DECT 6.0 Accessory handset only requires CS6419, CS6429 or SC6428

Any numbers you add to one handset's phonebook automagically sync with the other one. You can check your voice messages from either handset, or from the main docking station/answering machine. There is an intercom button to call the other handset if you want to talk to someone in a different part of the house. [or office, I guess] Each handset has it's own speakerphone speaker that works very well and simply; You just push the speaker button on the handset to toggle between speakerphone or regular phone. When you miss a call, it tells you how many you missed on each handset until you scroll down and view them through the caller ID. [on the handset]

The menu is well-organized and easy to navigate. I bought this phone primarily as a house-phone for my father, who had previously owned several cell-phones over the past decade and always hated trying to use them. From the small buttons, to the poor call quality, to not being able to check his messages or missed calls, he was constantly frustrated with his cellphone. He usually chose not to or forgot take it with him if he went anywhere anyways, so I thought it was time to try out a landline phone instead. I'm mentioning this because although my father is almost 70 years old and had a stroke in 2001, he has not had trouble getting used to this phone and now he actually gets all his missed calls and messages!

I only have one minor complaint about this system: When you listen to your voice messages, it quickly tells you the date and time the message was left, [awesome], then plays the message, [still fine], but then when it's over you don't get a chance to delete it. You have to either delete it before the message is over, or you have to press play again and then delete it before the message is over. You can also press the big delete X twice to just delete all old messages, but you might not want to delete them all. It's kind of a small thing, but it would be nice if it just gave you a second or two after the message plays to delete it. Oh yeah, and don't forget that if the power goes out, a cordless phone won't work at all. Overall, this is a fantastic, quality phone system that I highly recommend!
