When it comes to underwater housings, you often have two options: OEM housings that lack features, or aftermarket housings that dwarf the price of the camera itself.

As underwater photography is a new venture to me, I couldn't justify buying a housing that cost two times what the camera did or more.

I've been a Canon user for years, shooting everything from ELPH 35mm cameras, SD series point and shoots, EOS DSLRs, and now my G-15. I was more than comfortable buying the OEM housing and trust this to function as deep as I can dive within recreational limits (the limits of recreational diving are 40m, just as the housing is rated).

The buttons and dials are easy to use without wearing gloves. While wearing gloves, they can be a bit tedious, but with a bit of concentration I can adjust almost all settings. The housing does not provide access to the front control dial, nor the ability to turn off the pop-up flash once engaged.

Since there is no TTL support with the camera, I am working on putting together a strobe setup utilizing fiber optics. Since the housing is made from clear polycarbonate, I will using black fabric to reduce the effect of the flash for anything other than triggering the strobe.

The housing is simple, functional, and basic. A great way to get into underwater photography without spending a fortune. But professional underwater photographers will not be excited by the lack of features.
