I searched online for a bunch of different DIY slider projects, and finally decided that I'd rather spend the $100 than spend an entire weekend trying to build something when I have little construction/building knowledge. I definitely made the right choice. This thing is awesome. Pretty smooth, and one of the best things you can do is mount it at an angle on your tripod to get those up-the-stairs shots and the like.
