I bought this for my Sony FS700 and for the most part it's great. I hate all these alternatives that put the camera on your arms and not your shoulder then ultimately give you a rig that's three times the size of the actual camera. They're ridiculous and can cost you as much as a prosumer camera. Why would you want a rig that keeps you from walking through a door way or unable to sit in the passenger seat of a car? You must think about ergonomics when working as an operator. Most of these designers are not thinking that way. But I digress...

I like that it's light but solid and has feet for a real "V mount" video plate. So you if you already have an ENG (Sony) plate and tripod you're already set. I may need to upgrade my tripod myself but that's more so because of the camera. The shoulder pad is decent enough. If you want to balance the camera on your shoulder, you have to slide the actual camera to the position you want.

What I don't like is that you still have to buy your own rods and anything you mount to the side has to be made by Lanparte (and so far they only have one mount for a top handle) but that's just being picky. I also wish the knobs were black and not green. Again I'm just being picky.

I'd imagine that this specific mount would be way too big for a DSLR. But if you did buy it, you wouldn't have to sell it once you upgraded to a prosumer camera which makes this a great investment.

My 2¢.
