I am an avid birder as well as a star-lover. These binoculars are incredible! I have them on my table at all times to watch birds with, and they go with me on any hike or camping trip I take.

The initial setup is super-easy, and once you do that, they are some of the best I've used for tracking down and focusing on a moving object. A quick finger-toggle slides the focus for you without losing track of what you're looking at. I've in fact bought many sets of these binoculars for friends and family as gifts because they were so useful for me, and now I have a wide following addicted to these binoculars.

The image of course is fantastic, well lit and good sized!

If you have any sort of interest in nature, astronomy, sports, or just about anything else which involves viewing objects at a distance, these are definitely the binoculars to try. You won't be disappointed.

As soon as I saw this red camera, I absolutely had to have it. I did tremendous amounts of research to figure out if it was actually worth upgrading from my D40, then ordered it the day it became available on Amazon. While a few things might have been nicer on the Nikon, this camera is a wonderful upgrade. If the color isn't enough (this is for the red model if reviews become merged later on), it has some very nice specs to it. Ability to use essentially any Pentax lens ever made (and auto-focus), ISO 6400, 1/6000 shutter, many built-in imaging features(HDR, filters, color tweaks). This thing is truly a beast!

Body; When I first pulled it from the box, I was a little discouraged. While it is a well made camera, it does have a much lighter and cheaper feel than the Nikon had. The over-all fit and finish is fine, but the plastics don't feel as high quality. Perhaps it's because they're smooth, but it's also just my opinion. A slight concern, too, is that the red appears to be "painted", seeing as the inside of the doors are white. Overtime there's a chance the color could rub off, but I'm hoping this does not happen. Materials aside, the camera does have a nice feel. I have large hands with very long, slim fingers and the grip fits my hands great. The primary controls are within easy reach, with only a couple odd deviations(such as the flash and green soft-button).

The LCD on the back is average. It's your typical resolution, but works fine for previewing. Now the viewfinder I find to be more difficult to use than the Nikon. The focal point does not illuminate, making it both difficult to find and difficult to tell what's being focused. Also I can't seem to see all the specs in the viewfinder. I do wear glasses so I can't press my eye right against the eyepiece, but this wasn't a problem with the Nikon. While this certainly isn't a deal killer, it would be something to keep in mind.

Shooting performance is great. This camera is very fast. Start up time is essentially instant, focusing is lightning fast and it can take nearly 6FPS at it's peak. I have found low-light focusing to be a little worse than the Nikon, but that's also because the Pentax lacks an AF assist light. While it can use the flash, it still isn't quite as accurate as the Nikon and it's little light.

Image quality is very nice. Noise is well controlled under most all ISO settings. ISO6400 is very usable in average lighting conditions. But as light decreases, noise becomes more apparent. Many images from this camera do seem a bit more noisy than other cameras at similar ISO settings, but it still can produce comparable prints. Colors tend to be on the flat side using default settings, but with insane amounts of tweaks, this can be changed to whatever you please. White balance is managed very nicely too, with much better auto WB under incandescent lighting than the Nikon (though manual setting is still the best). The stabilizer works well. It's not as apparent when taking casual shots, but when using liveview, it is very easy to watch (and hear!) it working. While still on image quality, the movie mode actually astonished me. The quality is very sharp. While this is not a movie camera, the videos produced are supurb. Just realize AF is disabled and the stabilizer does interfere with the audio.

Honest, I suppose my only real complaint about this camera are the batteries. Why Pentax decided to go with AA's rather than a lithium pack is beyond me... Aside from being a bit clunky (4 batteries over a single pack) the system is rather buggy. I have been told the "batteries are depleted" but then restart the camera and continue to shoot for hours. Even after upgrading to firmware 1.1, the battery meter tends to jump around. If Pentax had gone with a lithium pack, this camera would be perfect 5 stars.

So to sum up, if you want a camera somewhere between the Nikon D90 and D5000 that strays away from the "normal" brands, this is a camera to consider.

--Update--

After having the camera for almost a month, I figured I'd post a little update. I still love the camera. I've had no problems to speak of. Pictures are looking very nice; people are always complimenting me on the camera and the photos it takes :)

I guess my only real complaints would still be the batteries and the white balance. The battery meter, as mentioned above, is very off. But all in all it works well enough to guess how much juice is remaining. As for the white balance, I've noticed it tends to be a bit more off than the Nikon was. I have a couple flashes, and it seems to be more-so with the Pentax 360FGZ so I'm not even sure if I should blame the camera or not...

These things aside, I'm really loving this camera. I'm a very difficult person to please but I'm exceptionally happy with my purchase.

While others have delivered much praise for the Yamaha RX-V673 receiver, I wanted to build on their collective comments with my own findings. The intent is to share my experience with the hope it may help others make a decision on whether the RX-V673 is right for them.

In 1999 I purchased a Yamaha RX-V1000 receiver, which I've been very happy with for the last thirteen+ years. My wife and I recently purchased a new 60" Samsung flat screen television and I learned the advantages of utilizing the HDMI connection to the new television. One problem: my old RX-V1000 doesn't have HDMI connections because it's badly outdated. So I began researching receivers and, like my original search back in 1999, I found the features that I'm looking for and the quantity of favorable reviews all pointed me back to Yamaha.

So I purchased the RX-V673. When it arrived, I spent time setting it up, getting it configured, and exploring everything it had to offer. I now have educated experience and agree with the majority of reviews. This receiver is an outstanding piece of equipment that performs exceptionally well and has an amazing amount of features and capabilities.

With all that stated, I want to share some observations and advice I think might help others.

The best way to make use of this receiver is to be prepared to do some homework. You can pull it out of the box, plug a network cable in, and then attach all your components. When you fire it up, you'll probably find things will be working, but this is really just the start. The best way to utilize this receiver to its fullest extent is to become familiar with the documentation. The documentation is actually written well and does a good job of explaining all the features and customizations that can be made. I'm a technical writer by profession and found the documentation to be well thought out and easy to follow.

Be aware, the receiver does not come with printed documentation. Documentation is supplied on a CD with the receiver.

Before receiving the receiver, I'd suggest downloading two documents from the Yamaha website. (If you can't login to Yamaha's website, these documents can be located elsewhere on the Internet.) Go to Google and search for RX-V673. The first link should be the product page on Yamaha's website. Link this page, if you think you might be interested in purchasing the receiver. Click on the Support leaf and this will take you to a page with all the documentation. Download to your computer or tablet the following PDF documents:

RX-V673 Owner's Manual

RX-V673 Quick Guide

These two documents offer everything you'll need to get the receiver set up and configured. You'll also need a list of manufacturer codes to program your existing remote(s) into the Yamaha remote, but this is contained on the CD supplied with the receiver.

You'll want to have these documents ready when you install the receiver. I found it best to download them to my Kindle tablet. I reviewed the quick start guide first and spent an hour or so skimming the entire user manual. This made installing and configuring the receiver much easier. When the receiver came, I was already equipped with the documentation and familiar with the equipment setup and configuration.

If you have legacy equipment to connect to the receiver, the RX-V673 is generously stocked with inputs on the rear panel to accommodate many of these devices. This is something that made this receiver an advantage over others. The RX-V673 supports one optical input and many phono audio and video inputs. It does not support S-video inputs. I have three devices that need a phono audio and video connection. The receiver only supplies enough connectivity for two of these devices. Consider each device you'll want to connect to the receiver and review the available inputs to ensure the receiver has not only the connections to support each of your devices, but also the quantity of inputs you'll need.

If you have a turntable, the RX-V673 does not come with a phono preamp. You'll need to purchase one separately. Phono preamps are pretty cheap, unless you want a high-end, audiophile preamp. You can expect to pay between $25 and $50 for one, which plugs in line with your existing turntable phono plugs.

During the setup process, the RX-V673 utilizes a YPAO autocalibration feature using a supplied microphone. This works very well, although, for me, I found it helpful to rely on my own ears and walk through the audio calibration myself. This process is actually not difficult at all, once you get used to the GUI. The GUI displayed on the television is very easy and intuitive (in my opinion, I know others have said otherwise) and I had no problem fine tuning the settings made by the YPAO feature. You don't have to go this far. The YPAO feature does a fine job on its own and you can certainly rely solely on this, if you choose.

One of the features I found most striking was the net radio stations. I had no idea there were so many fantastic stations available. There are thousands in multiple genres. The audio quality is fantastic and accessing these stations is easy. I find while I watch TV, when a commercial comes on, I press the Net button on the remote, which switches me immediately to the last Internet radio station I was listening to. I can listen to a station I like while watching the television and wait for the commercial to end. When it ends, I press TV on the remote and it immediately switches me back to what I was watching. Pandora and other network audio applications are also available as are network audio servers I have configured on other computers. I have two other laptops and was stunned to see the receiver showed these as available immediately, without me even knowing I was able to access them. I was thrilled!

The remote supplied with the unit is a helpful companion, but not an effective way to manage other remotes. My old RX-V1000 had a much better remote that enabled me to collapse my other remotes into it. This remote doesn't allow that, so you'll either have to learn to live with multiple remotes or purchase a universal remote, such as a Logitech Harmony.

Yamaha supplies an excellent free app for the RX-V673 that works great on my Kindle. A similar app is also available for the Apple. The Kindle app can be found in the Amazon App Store under Yamaha AV Controller App. The app provides access to many of the features the remote manages and also unlocks a few more, such as bass and treble adjustments. This app isn't just a glorified remote, it provides powerful abilities from a remote location and its control over the receiver is instantaneous.

For example, the RX-V673 provides the ability to set up a zone 2 listening environment. I want to have speakers in my office/living area the floor below the living room where the receiver is installed. While in the lower level of my home, I can be in my office downstairs and use the Kindle to access the receiver and tell it to play music through zone 2. I can select a source, such as Net radio, music from my server, etc., and control this music while I'm downstairs. Keep in mind, this can be accomplished while someone is watching television or listening to music in zone 1 (the family room upstairs). The only limitation is that both zones cannot play a different Net radio, Pandora, or Rhapsody station at the same time. This is a very powerful feature. Without the app control on the Kindle, I'd have to walk upstairs to the family room, turn on the receiver, and get things set up for zone 2. The Kindle app works flawlessly! The GUI is great and it's easy to understand and operate.

From a sonic environment standpoint, Yamaha seems to have greatly enhanced the quality of sound in their integration of various acoustical environments. The RX-V673 comes equipped with multiple proprietary environments sampled from the original locations, such as The Bottom Line, Roxy Theatre, Vienna symphony hall, an athletic sports arena, and many more. My old Yamaha receiver had this, but its implementation wasn't so convincing, so I never used it. The RX-V673 *is* convincing--convincing enough that I used it to watch the AFC Championship game using the Sports setting. The entire room filled with the sound of the stadium with the commentator's voice pushed to only the center channel. I could hear people all around me. It was an amazing sonic experience. During commercials, I put on Net radio, which was preset to the Roxy Theatre setting, and it sounded fantastic.

This RX-V673 is so loaded with features and customizable settings, I'm finding new features and uses each time I sit down and explore its capabilities. Network AV receivers are certainly a thing of the present--a modern-day tool that has expanded its use as technology has evolved.

My advice is to do your homework on this receiver and you'll more easily be able to customize it to your liking. I've found its performance to be excellent and its features outstanding. It has allowed me to easily integrate my existing setup and has given me vision on how to expand my sonic enjoyment throughout my home (with a zone 2 setup and use of network streaming media utilizing Airplay). I couldn't be happier with my selection and heartily recommend it to anyone shopping for a network AV receiver.

This is my video review of the AT2020 USB microphone from Audio-Technica. USB Microphones are made to be plugged in directly to a laptop or desktop. I connected this to a Vista 64 laptop during filming and did the voice over on a Macbook Pro.

Text review:

I give this product a 5 star rating. It is easy to use, high quality and very competitively priced. This is a great desktop mic to use for making podcasts or recording music.

I am not a musician so I am not able to speak to that aspect of the microphones ability. I did use it to make several voice over videos and it performed perfectly. Never a hick-up or any spurious noises heard at all.

I did not include specs into my video review because it would add to the file size and be too small to read here on Amazon's video player.

Regular readers of my reviews know I try to supply specs when necessary.

Here are the specs:

Element: Fixed-charge back plate permanently polarized condenser

Polar pattern: Cardioid

Frequency Response: 20Hz-16,000Hz

Power Requirements: USB power (+5VDC)

Bit depth: 16

Sample Rate: 44,000 kHz

Weight: 374g (13.2 oz)

Dimensions: 162.0 mm (6.38") long

52.0mm max body diameter (2.05")

Output connector: USB type

Accessories: Pivoting stand for 5/8"-27 threaded stands, 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, soft protective pouch, tripod desk stand; 3.1m 10' USB cable

System Reqs: Mac OSX, USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum. Windows XP Home or professional USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum.

So for a great USB microphone I recommend this highly!

About the video: After uploading I noticed that Amazon's codec (video compressor) has made the video quality sub-par. I will try to reupload it again with a different codec.

Thank you for watching!

This little unit pretty much does exactly what it says. You can film without touching/holding the camera, making it easier to zoom, focus, and see where you're going. You can also "hold" the camera longer without fatigue. The brace is plastic, but feels sturdy enough to take any reasonable abuse. The foam covering looks a bit flimsy (both in terms of eventual decay or coming off), but easy to repair in that event. I bought this for DSLR video. It places the camera in a good position for viewing the screen, but a little two far away for using a LCD lounge/eye piece. After playing around a bit, I found I could reverse the middle bracket piece to position the camera perfectly. A word of perspective: this doesn't give you the smoothness of a real steadicam rig. It's attached to your body, so when you breath, it moves.

I've had my coolpix 3200 for about a week, and am really surprised at how good the pictures are, how easy it is to get the pictures into my PC, and how long the batteries last. I bought Duracell rechargeables with the camera, told my camera that these were the batteries I was using through its menu system, and have been taking pictures for a week on the same batteries. That's more than 80 pictures -perhaps more -all on the same 2 batteries, most of them using a flash. My battery charge meter has not even shown up yet.

When I first read the manual, I didn't understand the value of all the frame, portrait, and scene assist modes. As I've used the camera, though, I've come to see that they are very important. The frame and portrait assistants actually change the location of the auto-focus. When I am in sports mode, the camera's auto-focus is constantly changing so that the picture will shoot quickly when the shutter release is pressed. Shutter speed and aperature are adjusted depending on which scene I've selected. In other words, using the modes makes for much better pictures. They are more than just marketing pitches.

The software that came with the camera is okay, though it is nothing earth shaking. Better tools came with my scanner/copier/printer combo, but if you don't have those tools, what comes with the camera is much better than nothing and will get the job done.

I'm very satisfied. The camera is so small that I wear it in a tiny case on my belt all the time.

BTW, I was going to buy the 2200 instead, but am glad that I didn't. Once I had the manual (which is the same for both cameras), I saw that there are a number of small features that the 3200 has that are not available to the 2200. For example, the 3200 has sound for movies, the 2200 does not. You can record voice memos and set sounds for camera functions with the 3200. The 3200 can take more continuous pictures at a time (due to the higher resolution and space required). There are more differences, and most of them are small, but by the time you add them all up, it's worth the additional $100, in my oppinion.

I was an avid amateur photographer back "in the day", but grew tired of the hassles of large cameras and film developing. Thanks to this tiny, filmless camera, I'm a photographer again.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The advantage of Thunderbolt attached drives is speed comparable to having the drives connected directly. In this product the drives are two 10,000 RPM Velociraptors, some of the fastest non-SSD hard drives you can find. The tradeoff is that they are not cheap, lack the larger capacity of slower drives and are a bit noisier.

Like the other My Book models, there is quite a bit of heat generated, but its less of a concern here ate least with regard to the drives. Specifically, the other My Books use Green drives which are not as robust as the Velociraptors. Also the Velociraptors are actually 2.5 inch drives within a frame that acts like a heatsink. There doesn't appear to be any differences in the case materials or cooling between this and the other models (this one does include a Thunderbolt cable), its still a cheap case.

Because of the steep differential in price between this and the next model down, there really needs to be a need to have that extra bit of speed to justify getting this especially with the ability to daisychain Thunderbolt devices so two slightly slower devices could be used at the same time. This meets the needs of a very small niche but is overkill for everyone else.

Other issues:

No off switch.

Needs reformatting for use with Windows.

The device will only work with the supplied drives. It is designed to lockout on anything else.

The device is only accessible via Thunderbolt.

What a great price for this lens able to get up close to a wide format scene and get everything in the photo. Be careful to hold the lens level to avoid the "fish eye" effect on the edges of your photo. Not good for photos taken at a distance. The lens comes packaged very nicely with a lens hood and cap. Overall a great value.

Up until recently I have been using a 8GB card in my 3000 model PSP. To my surprise, this 32GB memory stick actually manages to load nearly everything on my PSP a good deal faster than on my previous memory Stick, which was an amazing perk along with the 29 usable gigabytes of memory on the stick. I cannot think of any downside to this memory stick as a memory storage for all PSP models aside from the the PSP Go, which does not support the Memory stick pro duo format. If you are looking to expand your current PSP's memory for downloadable games or videos and do not wish to upgrade to the UMD-less PSP Go, you cannot do better than investing in the 32GB Lexar memory stick.

Side by Side comparison with the Haier/Prism set results in 10 channels for the RCA vs 2 for the Haier in the Baltimore suburbs. Picture quality of the RCA is better than the Haier especially in low light the soft setting is a good choice for a bedroom. Both units work well with an outside antenna w amp matching the channel count of a high-performance 55 inch LED Samsung. They also get the same list of QAM channels on Comcast Cable. Haier doesn't reject scrambled channels as easily as the RCA. The units have similar menu layouts. The remote is nicer on the RCA but very thin. Might be easily lost. Sound quality of the Haier is superior to the RCA. USB input directly plays some movie formats. Both units operated 1.5 hours on a charge. The RCA gave better warning on exhausted battery. Both units require their remotes to select a channel not previously scanned.

The RCA is probably worth the extra 25% for the better local antenna performance as an emergency set and better video quality.

Swann 8 Channel HD NVR Security System with 2TB Hard Drive and 4

Swann 8 Channel HD NVR Security System with 2TB Hard Drive and 4 1080p IP Cameras
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Hands down, this is the best NVR for on the market right now for the money. You get 1080p IP cameras (rebadged HikVision, an outstanding OEM with a great reputation) and one of the sleekest, slimmest, cleanest looking NVR units out there, packing POE, HDMI (and VGA) output and gigabit LAN connectivity, plus tons of included storage space and one of the best software interfaces out there.

Setup was super simple, even though I eschewed the uPnP and manually forwarded the necessary ports. Everything else was simple and intuitive and everything has worked flawlessly right out of the box. Instructions were clean, clear, concise and written by a native English speaker (shocking, right?), which is rare in the consumer electronics market. If you can set up a router for your home network, you should have no problem with this unit, it is very much user friendly. Swann offers free DDNS service, so you can remotely access your NVR from anywhere on the web without having to cough up extra money to your ISP for a static IP address, which is awesome.

The cameras themselves are top of the line, as you can find out by researching the HikVision OEM. Picture quality is stunningly good and if you've played with security cameras before, you will immediately see the difference. These are not toys, they are seriously expensive, high grade cameras and account for the vast majority of the purchase price for this package (as in well over a grand between the four included cameras and 240 feet of cable they come with). I've been super impressed with the image quality, including the nightvision / IR and will be keeping an eye out for price drops so I can pick up a few more. I'm currently running 6 cameras with this unit and it performs like an absolute champ. The POE functionality is 10x better than having to deal with separate coax and DC power connections, not to mention the fact that Cat5e cables are so much easier to work with than coax.

There's definitely a premium attached with this unit, but it is tailor made to work with the rebranded HikVision cameras and to take advantage of their high performance. Besides looking good and having a sleek form factor, under the hood the software is well designed and feature rich. Remote access to the NVR is simple, responsive and intuitive. It's also pretty easy to set up storage to NAS units, which is something I'll be implementing down the road if the included 2TB ever becomes too limiting (perhaps once I get up to 8 cameras).

On the whole, I don't regret this purchase one bit. It was worth every penny and you truly get what you pay for. As is often said, cry once, buy the best and have no regrets. There is no better system on the market right now, and the cost difference is, in my mind, completely worth it. I would buy again and I will be purchasing more cameras to flesh out my install. Beautiful unit, outstanding image quality and great software.

The Noctilux is large, heavy, and very expensive. You might think at this price and given its manufacturer that it would be optically perfect, much like the new APO 50 mm lens. Read the booklet that comes with it and learn about light fall-off and vignetting toward the edges of the lens. And then remember that this is one of the best lenses around. Despite the scary terms like vignetting etc., this lens is very, very good, and allows handheld shots in very dim light that would require a tripod with most other cameras and lenses. And that's the main point here why you would spend $3500 USD over the cost of the optically superior APO lens because you can carry the 'M' camera with lens in a small bag that doesn't make you look like a photographer, meaning you can get into more places and capture more images (and more interesting images) than you would carrying the typical camera bag and/or tripod.

The Noctilux physically is extremely well built and has accurate markings for f-stops with 1/2 stop indents, feet and metres for zone focusing, and a depth of field scale for apertures 0.95, 2, 4, 8, 11, and 16. You apparently have to interpolate for apertures between those values. The lens has electronic sensors that identify it to modern or upgraded 'M' cameras, and most of the relevant information is recorded in the image EXIF data. What's puzzling is the lack of f-stop number in that EXIF data, or even in the image playback on the LCD screen (Monochrom camera I don't know exactly what's recorded with other Leica cameras). This lens is physically focused with some effort, and would never auto-focus on a camera equipped with such a facility.

While the Noctilux has exceptional low-light capabilities due to the lens quality and f0.95 maximum aperture, the depth of field in actual shooting situations can be almost hair-thin. Some thought has to be given to how that DOF plays out on the target image and its contents, since with multiple objects in the frame, some are likely to be out of focus unless arranged at equal distances from the lens. Zone focusing is even trickier, and most of my attempts thus far have resulted in soft focus images. For zone focusing success with the Noctilux, I'd recommend setting up objects at various distances, guessing how far each is from the camera, then measuring those distances. After some practice the user should be able to zone focus with reasonable success. The technique I employ most often is to determine visually where I'm going to shoot from, guess the distance from there to the subject and set the lens accordingly, go there and take a couple of shots, then move slightly back and forth while taking shots at those additional distances. I think that's a better method than trying to focus the rangefinder in dim light in situations where you want to be low-key.

One drawback to the very large footprint of the Noctilux is that it partly obscures the 'M' camera rangefinder, making some exposures difficult to compose or even focus accurately. The built-in lens hood is straight not flared and it extends out from the lens about 1/2 inch and locks with a short twist. Given the design of the lens and the advanced coatings it has, I doubt that most users would need more than the built-in lens hood. The filter thread diameter appears to be about 59 mm, but that's not an official measurement. A lens cap, back cap, and deluxe leather pouch are included with the lens along with a booklet, warranty, and QC card with the signature of the QC agent.

I bought this NTG3 because I do a lot of photo/video shoots. I had shopped around and after a colleague of mine strongly recommended this one, I checked it out. It is simply a fantastic mic and exactly what I was looking for. My recording really covered the full freq. spectrum, which I really need for what I do. The quality was astounding and from what I read on their website...it's even weather proof! That will definitely, definitely come in handy for me as I've had a few run-ins with that in the past.

The ONLY drawback of my purchase was buying it through Brooklyn Professional Audio!!! I purchased it because they were the cheapest, which seemed like a good idea at the time. The unfortunate thing is they are NOT...repeat...NOT an authorized dealer. Therefore, when I tried to register my mic for it's warranty...Rode kindly told me that it wasn't possible since Brooklyn Professional Audio is not an authorized reseller. No fault to Rode at all...I don't blame them! All this to say...do NOT purchase from Brooklyn Professional Audio this product or any other one as far as I'm concerned.

Other than that, I am sooooo pleased with this purchase. I was tempted to return it...but the thing is built like a tank. I don't expect any issues anytime soon. Highly recommend!!!

This underwater camera case was easy to use, of good quality, and did not leak. I have only one complaint about the wrist strap that came with it. It is kind of wimpy so it is not adequate for taking an expensive camera (and case) underwater. We had to buy another wrist strap that more securely attached to the wrist without the risk of losing the camera and case.

Pretty good. The kit has comprehensive items. The quality of the lenses is good and the camera is new. The box was damaged a little when it arrived, but it's alright.
