INITIAL REVIEW: Why did they even add a thunderbolt port? Because the thunderbolt port does nothing besides heat up to a temperature capable of burning skin. Just received this brand new as a Christmas present to pair with my mac mini 10.7.4 16gB DDR3 I5, and I was able to install drivers only via USB 3.0. I figured once the drivers were installed, it would work via thunderbolt....wrong. Thunderbolt connection is not recognized whatsoever. The worst part about it is that on Lacie's support page, they have windows drivers for thunderbolt, and mac drivers for USB 3.0. Shouldn't that be the other way around since thunderbolt, at the moment is primarily a mac based transfer platform to compete with USB 3, which is primarily a Windows based platform?

IMPORTANT UPDATE 3/30/13. After my frustrations with Lacie regarding the first Thunderbolt drive I received being problematic....their customer service has blew my mind by sending me a replacement hard drive. Not only did they replace the hard drive, but they upgraded it to the 1TB model. I was overjoyed...and it gets better....I plugged the new drive in via thunderbolt to my Mac Mini, powered the computer on...and there you have it...Setup and formatting took 5 minutes, the hard drive is running a time machine back up at the moment, and I am a happy customer. There will always be issues with quality control in the world of mass production, so when a company can stand up, take fault, and fix the situation, it really restores ones faith in that company. I will be Lacie customer for life. Thanks Lacie
