And I'm so glad I didn't listen. Maybe it is not good glass for a professional photographer, I don't know, I'm not one. I'm just a simple hobbyist who loves to take pictures of the moon and wildlife. And this lens allows me to do both.
Got deer or turkey in the field across the road no problem, this lens allows me to get up close and personal. When I want to count the craters on the moon this lens allows me that also. Was able to focus in on a road sign approximately 1/4 to 1/2 a mile down the road. To me, that the kind of lens I wanted and this Rokinon does it superbly.
Be aware though, that you will need a good tripod to use this lens. It weighs almost six pounds and is very large. The built in tripod mount works wonderfully if using a good, heavy-weight tripod. I would not trust it on a lightweight grab and go tripod.
All in all a good value for the money. Especially for us amateurs. And I even think many photography professionals would love this lens if given the chance to try it.
