When the package arrived it appeared that the box may have been dropped but it wasn't severely damaged. However, I started to use the camera and I found that the LCD screen had lines running through it and movies were unviewable due to lines. I contacted the seller, but I was on vacation and couldn't return the camera until I returned home. They covered shipping, and the following week a replacement camera arrived. It did not appear damaged and works perfectly.

About the camera and the package. The camera has tons of capability and I will be a long time learning all of its capabilities. The primary and secondary lenses are both IS type, which is essential, especially for the longer zoom. Many of the packages available on Amazon include a non-IS telephoto lens, and you will regret getting that. Some of the items included in the package are of questionable value, particularly the zoom and macro lens add-ons. I found the image quality to be degraded through those. The close-up filter type lenses are an interesting but perhaps not entirely necessary accessory, but they allow for shooting close up macro as well. The bag is useful for holding the extra lens and some other items, but I am using a padded camera holster from my previous film SLR to hold the camera as it is way more convenient. The tripod is nice and light, but not the greatest quality. In particular it is difficult to rotate the head in a vertical plane. I will use it until I tire of the quality and bump up a level. I haven't tried the small table top tripod yet. The filters are a good accessory. Polarizing filter produced some interesting effects at the beach. The 2 additional batteries are overkill -one would have been adequate along with the Canon one included with the camera. The 16 GB card works well. The screen protector did not come with a screed card. Since that one went back with the defective camera, I ended up buying a kit from the camera store. It came with the screed card and you can hardly tell there is a protector sheet on now.

My next purchase will be a remote cable release for the shutter, and a good flash unit. I have always done bounce flash and the results are way better. The T3 will not work with IR shutter releases available from places like Best Buy. so, you must buy the Canon type for $20 that is tethered to the camera. But that doesn't bother me. I have ordered one through Amazon. If I am to be in the picture, I use the self timer anyway. You need to get the T3i for the IR capability. I was already spending more than I planned so I didn't go for the T3i.
