I had the opportunity to compare the W1500 with the Optoma HD25 and 25e. Picture quality is excellent in both models, contrast dark level details, brightness, but sharpness at the lower edges was slight fuzzy on The HD25, possibly due to a lack of vertical lens shift. Other features on the W1500 lacking on the HD 25 is extended range zoom which allows flexiblity in placement of the projector, as does the vertical lens shift, especially with ceiling mounting. The third feature is frame interpolation, only found that i an see in projectors costing well over $2000. this "smooths out" motion blur giving you more frames/second and more video appearance. Some prefer not to have this with 24 fps movies because of its video affect. The menu will allow you to vary the degree of frame interpolation. One feature is found on the HD 25 and NOT on the W1500 is the RF emitter 3D in addition to the DLP sync. both are excellent 3D projectors with its 100" wide screen capabilities really giving you depth and pop.

All in all, I certainly would get the BenQ1500 if your home theater requires the flexibility of wide zoom range and vertical lens shift. Otherwise stick with the Optoma HD25e or the BenQ W1070. With prices on projectors continuing to fall on the entry level projectors, you might just decide to wait.

I almost forgot one important feature:wireless HDMI. Keep in mind it only has one transmitter, so you'll have to hook it up to an AV receiver output with multiple inputs. The W1500 also has 2D to 3D conversion. It's of course not as good as real 3D. Ive not tried the wireless 3D yet. Apparently it's gotten good reviews, working from 20 meter line of vision. Will update this review when I try it.

Addendum 12/2/13

I''ve had the opportunity to hookup the wireless HDMI dongle to my AV receiver. The picture for the most part is excellent.. Very few times would video noise flashes come thru lasting for a split second. This may happen once a movie. I've got the projector about 10ft from the AV receiver. The most annoying thing is the 10-15 second delay before the video comes on. You hear the audio portion with a black screen for about 12 seconds then a flash distortion of the video for a second before your on your way. Annoying, but I've gotten used to the delay so it's not a deal breaker. 3D comes thru unscathed but adds a second of color distortion to the delay before it stabilizes. All in all, it's nice to be able to plant your projector 40 feet away from your video source without wires hanging from the back (except the power cord, of course). If this feature is not important to you, I'm sure BenQ will be coming out with the same projector and features, sans the wireless HDMI (W1400??) and no doubt several hundred dollars cheaper.
