Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Sony BDV-N8100W is a nice unit with a ton of features. Rather than write an enormous review of every possible function, I'm going to zoom in on the things that seem to matter most to me. If I don't mention something, it's either because I don't want to repeat what other reviewers already said, or because I just don't use it.

First, I was happy to see that fit and finish is very good for the price. You don't get all-metal enclosures, wooden speaker boxes with Kevlar cones, or large-gauge cables, but materials and workmanship are a good deal for this kind of package at this price point. The main unit and subwoofer tuck away nicely, and the speakers are unobtrusive in our living room. Note, though, that we wall-mounted the front speakers, discarding the tall stands that come in the box. Wall mounted, they produce good sound and visually match up well with our fireplace-hung LCD TV.

Second, it was very easy to set up and configure. Physically, it takes a great deal of time to place everything just so, route cables and power, etc., but at no stage was it difficult.

Third, though, the UI menu system is characteristically "Sony" in that like every Sony camera and other gadget I've ever owned ordinary usage requires you to navigate a large and fairly discursive menu system. This can actively hamper everyday use. For instance, astonishingly, there is no function to let you select a particular input mode! By this, I mean you cannot press a single button and jump to HDMI 1 (etc.). Instead, you have to press a function button repeatedly, cycling one at a time through all of the many input options until you get the one you want. Alternatively, you can call up the main menu, navigate left or right to the input control settings and then up or down to the one you want. It's pretty much the same either way, because it takes a lot of button mashing and more importantly it makes it hard to use a procedural universal remote control (like a Logitech Harmony).

Fourth, sound is remarkably good for the price. On movies, TV and music (whether 2-channel or simulated surround) the sound is equal to or better than the separate components I bought for a higher price some years back. And the wireless rear surrounds produce extremely good sound for the purpose, and I've never experienced a dropout or disconnection.

In recent weeks, something has gone wonky with the sound in this unit. My guess is that one of the firmware updates did something to change sound processing algorithms, because all voices now take on a weird, distorted kazoo-like character at low volumes. It's not completely unlistenable, but it is distracting. It affects all of the DSP settings (Auto, Movie, Music, etc) except, oddly, 3D Surround Sound mode, so I keep in that mode almost all the time now. A manual software reset did not solve the problem.

One of our IT guys at work got one of these and we tested it together so I decided to get my own. Only had it for a few days but so far I'm impressed. The added Bluetooth function on this model is worth it I had a few bluetooth keyboards and mice lying around and they connected with a breeze same as the Wi-Fi. I read other reviews that said there were issues with the Wi-Fi but I haven't had any at all. The strange thing is that there is no On/Off button on these so you just unplug the power which is connected via mini-usb to shut it off not that big of a deal, just odd that they didn't include a power button on these.

The dual processors are super fast and I've downloaded most of the apps from google play that I have on my tablet and they run very well on here and look very clear and crisp on my 50" LCD. Once you get used to using a mouse with the Android OS it gets better strange playing Angry Birds with a mouse but the graphics look great. Netflix streams in HD too and the video quality is very crisp and clear. Other video apps like HBOGO and MAXGO work very well streaming but the quality isn't too great on the picture I'm sure that's due to not all of the content from these providers being in HD like most of Netflix titles. Google Chrome looks great and the web surfing is extremely fast the newest flash player is already installed too along with HTML5.

All in all I would recommend this to anyone wanting to try it out definitely worth it I'm sure you can do a lot more with these things too just haven't had the time to play with it too much. Other reviews also stated that the unit gets warm after only a short period of time guess that got fixed with the ventilation holes as I haven't had any issues with it even getting warm at all after leaving it on continuously.

A very surprising camera! It's compares favorably to my Canon 5D Mark II and 7D. The small size, even with the G Vario 7mm lens makes it an easy choice to grab for "what if" situations. The MENU give such great choices in both stills and videos. Some of the video shot with this camera have been included in sequences shot with the above cameras plus Sony's CineAlta cams. Many delightful surprises with the LUMIX have made this one of my favorites. For the price HIGHLY recommended.

got the camera In 3 days, it was packed very well.

The item is well designed not to be detected, this hidden Camera is very easy to Install.

I had a few questions in regards to networking, and the technical support was quick to respond, and most helpful over the phone.

I later noticed that inside the box i had a written manual with pictures and detailed explanation on how to install.

The camera makes no noise at all, the picture is crystal clear with Audio.

The Wi-Fi range is great, I located the camera on the wall looking at the front door, but I could install the camera at any location in my house, and get good signal.

I was recording and viewing over network in no time, I decided to record over the network, so I don't have to worry about running out of memory, but recording to SD card is also an option.

I am not using motion detection feature because I want to record at all times but the option is there.

I have iPhone, I used "I cam viewer pro" application to view the feed.

I told my wife about it, and she took quite a while to find the camera.

Do NOT purchase this product. I purchased it from Nero's web site, as a download. I tried repeated (unsuccessful) installation attempts. Each displayed the number "1158" and no other error text. I then contacted Nero.

I responded immediately, and thoroughly, to their requests for information. Finally, after more than a week without resolution, I reluctantly requested instructions for obtaining a refund.

Nero's exact response was as follows: "Thank you for your e-mail. Please be advised that we are unable to offer a refund, as defined by our terms of trade. These terms were accepted with the purchase of Nero from our website ."

If you have doubts about this review, try searching "Nero error 1158" for countless similar complaints.

I previously owned Nero 7 Ultimate. It was a great product. However, the company has now slid so far downhill that they will not even provide a refund for a product that fails to install.

Following Nero's final response, I immediately contacted my credit card company. They (American Express) were wonderfully helpful. If you purchase the product anyhow, and encounter similar issues, I suggest you also contact your credit card company.

This is the first time I've seen a product that fails to install. Further, the one or two complaints I've had, in the past 25 years, have been dealt with professionally. Even companies consisting entirely of a single developer have responded more appropriately. To see a company, like Nero, behave so unprofessionally is truly disappointing...and unexpected.

I truly hope they revise their approach towards customer service and return to their previous excellence.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 12.1 MP Rugged/Waterproof Digital Camera

I am a serious photographer and I usually shoot with a pro Nikon camera. I purchased this camera because I did not want to expose my pro Nikon to the elements, and this camera is wonderful for that purpose.

I have added some sample shots for you to judge the quality for yourself. I have to agree with other reviews that the GPS function is ok at best. I have found that I need to be in clear view of the sky for the GPS to find the current location. I have noticed that while the GPS is searching, it really uses lots of battery power. I now geotag a few photos and then turn off the GPS to save on battery power.

In strong light, the camera sensor washes out some images... I would like to see a feature to allow for strong backlight as well.

It is very easy to put your finger in front of the lens by mistake.

If you use a Mac, the AVCHD (30 min recording at a time) mode does not play, I have to A) convert the file or B) set the camera to HD (10 min recording at a time) mode.

I have dropped the camera from 5 feet or so into the sand where it was 75% buried, I found that I needed to rinse the camera off under running water to get all the sand out before I opened the door. No damage or issues with this.

I have operated the camera in 20 degree weather for hours with no issues.

I have operated the camera in 90 degree weather for hours with no issues.

I love that I can simply push a button to start and stop the recording process.

If you have some basic knowledge of photography, you will be able to use all of the different available settings to your benefit. If you simply want to point and shoot, keep the camera in the iA mode and this will work out fine for you.

I really like the night shot mode because it allows me to hand hold the camera.

Overall, I really think that this camera is a very good buy, given all that it can stand and the places I can take it without having to worry about it. No the photos quality is not A+, but I am also not exposing a camera that costs thousands of dollars to the elements. I have in fact recommended this camera to other friends. I am enjoying this camera and I think you may enjoy it as well...

Apple iMac MC812LL/A 21.5-Inch Desktop (OLD VERSION)

My old PC was over 4 years old and just not keeping up any more. I didn't consider getting a Mac until I'd kicked around the idea of learning iOS programming which requires OSX. After looking at the prices of these computers I balked, I could build a bleeding edge "Hackintosh" for what they were asking and still have money left over! A little research into installing OSX onto a non-Apple machine nipped that in the bud, it seems more headache than it's worth. So I sucked it up and bought an iMac and wow am I glad I did. The specs may not be top of the line, but everything else about this computer is!

First, the hardware. The screen is the most obviously amazing thing here, it makes the very nice Viewsonic monitors on my Windows box look washed out and blurry in comparison. Colors are vibrant, text is crisp, pixels are nearly invisible. If you're deciding between this and the larger iMacs, the 21" looks huge on my desk and I can't imagine how monstrous the 27" would be! Processing power is also stellar, it's been able to take everything I've thrown at it so far whether it's games or video stuff or anything else. The Magic Mouse is an unexpected surprise, I never thought I'd be impressed by a mouse but this little thing is extremely cool gestures and scrolling without wheels and buttons hasn't gotten old yet.

The software is excellent as well. I've been a Windows guy as long as I've been a computer user and I took to OSX immediately, as though I'd been an old pro. It's a cliche with Apple stuff but really It Just Works. It is rock solid too, despite my blind Mac-newbie messing around I've only gotten it to crash once and it was totally my fault. 3rd party software is plentiful and many Windows apps and games are available for OSX as well, don't look only in the Mac App Store though, better prices can often be found in other app stores (Steam, for example) or from a developer's own web site. Upgrading to Lion was dead easy but give it a couple hours after Lion's done installing, it reindexes all your files and the computer runs kind of slow while this is going on.

I've only had this computer a week so I know I've barely scratched the surface, but already this iMac has transformed a life long devout Windows guy into one of those insufferable Mac people. It's every bit as easy to set up and use and just as well designed as Macs are reputed to be. If you're thinking about switching, go ahead and do it, you'll be glad you did!

Ricoh Caplio GX100 Compact 10mp Digital Camera with 24-72mm Zoom

I used to have a Ricoh GR1s 35mm point and shoot that I carried with me everywhere. For some time I had wanted to buy a RAW capable P&S with the functionality of a DSLR but I couldn't decide on which one to get.

For awhile I wanted the Canon G9 but after handling the camera, it did not compare to the Ricoh GR1s I was then using. I really didn't want to give up the amazing ergos of the GR1s for something that felt so bulky. I wanted a smallish camera with all the features of a big camera. I then discovered that there was a Ricoh GRD and GRDII but the price on those were little out of my range for a fixed lens camera. So when I found the GX100 I started looking into it. Soon after, I made my purchase.

I have been incredibly pleased thus far. Lens quality is amazing, though not as sharp as the GR series (but that could be the image processor). Ergonomics and functions are all there and it just works and captures amazing photographs. One of my favorite things about the camera are the "My Settings" options. You can select your favorite settings and record them to be selected on the option wheel. So if you love shooting at 80 ISO in RAW at 28mm and 5.1 aperture you can save it to "My1". And if you have some other setting you like save them to "My2". All of your other settings are also saved. Every time you turn off the camera and then back on you can click back to one of the wheel modes and your last used settings are there!!

Nikon D7000 16.2MP DX-Format CMOS Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCD

I will not be writing the merits / demerits of the product itself. I guess there are multiple sites already offering that info. What I will write about is my experience with the seller (Sunset Electronics) and some general info on the kit.

The item arrived well packaged. A few things were left out (manuals for the camera, lenses, wrong tripod, cleaning kit missing) which the seller promptly shipped out the next day. One thing to note though is that the camera seems to be from the gray market (serial number ends with a "C", maybe for sale in 'China'). A little surprised that Amazon would allow their marketplace vendors to sell items meant for sale in other countries (& hence the lower price, I guess). In any case, when I spoke with the CS dept, they acknowledged the fact that the camera was retail and that any warranty issues would need to go thru their store, and that I would not be able to resolve directly with Nikon. Registering the cam and lenses online wasn't a problem. Good experience overall.

I would recommend that other folks first check with the retailer on the product details and then make up your mind. Camera is awesome and the kit lenses, etc are ok (managed my expectations upfront) but will satisfy any novice users (like me!).

I will update the review in a few months with my experience. Meanwhile, happy clicking!!

Update June 20, 2013 Camera continues to perform without any hiccups. Looks like Sunset electronics is back with their d7000 kit option on Amazon ;-) ...I've never used any of the misc items (telephoto lens, tripod, lens strap....) that came with the kit. Did get a good quality tripod, a better, longer, & inconspicuous shoulder strap and have been quite happy thus far!!

Panasonic Lumix TS4 12.1 TOUGH Waterproof Digital Camera

I have just purchased the Orange DMC TS4. It is a vast improvement over the TS3 in many respects. I appreciate the full manual mode in particular. I like to take shots of the night sky, the stars in particular... the option to set the shutter speed up to 60 seconds is amazing.

The time lapse is also a marked bonus as well. I am a bit worried when leaving the camera in one spot for so long as it may be stolen, but so far I have made some amazing short films.

The overall picture quality seems to have improved as well.

The only MAJOR PROBLEM is that the manufacturer suggests that the watertight seals be replaced to maintain the water-proof integrity of the camera. They have not established what I consider a reasonable pricing structure for this maintenance procedure. To replace the seal you need to unscrew two screws on the door and replace the seal. Yet the service department for Panasonic now charges $180 plus shipping costs (both ways) to do this. I have spoken with the service department and they have assured me new pricing is being considered..so BEWARE!

One minor limitation I see with the camera is, beside the repair issue, the menu is a bit quirky and takes a little while to get used to. Another is to keep your finger off the lens, and keep your finger off the mike. If you cover the mike even a little while recording you will record both your subject but also the internal whizzing and other sounds of the camera.

5/8/2012 UPDATE.. Panasonic parts department says you can buy the "water packing" kit for about $32. Part number VUMG 1978.. call 1-800-833-9626 to buy this part. They say this is the part that needs to be replaced each year to keep the watertight integrity of the camera.

6/17/2012 UPDATE... I have just come back from a trip to Japan. A nice Panasonic repair person told me that the lens is prone to come loose and rattle when off. This is weird but normal so he says. The rattle stops when you power up the camera.

**I also discovered a neat feature of the panorama function. When you play back panorama pictures on the camera, when you push the up button, same as when you playback movies, on the camera it makes a movie out of the panorama. It is like you are there. Amazing!!

6/26/2012 UPDATE... Just spoke with Panasonic repair person in TX, USA and they have confirmed that they now charge only $50 to change all of the waterproof seals. (down from $180)

***be warned however, they said they will also look for other things to repair and if they find something the price for those repairs (not covered by any existing warranty) will be $180+.

**8/10/2012NEW REPAIR POLICY. I just spoke with Panasonic repair person in TX again, a new policy has been initiated regarding ts models. They no longer will question camera leaks if under warranty. They told me, at least for now, that they will be replacing them with new, not refurbished, cameras of the same model and color. Good news!! It looks like Panasonic has listened to all the negative comments and decided to do something about it!!!

HP W2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor

As an Apple devotee, I feel like a bit of a traitor writing a positive review of an HP product, but WOW this thing is great! I bought it as a second monitor to my MacBook. Apple MacBook MA701LL/A 13.3" Notebook PC (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive) BlackThe color is brilliant, the contrast is impressive, the text pops and it's just plain beautiful to look at, even if you are working. I literally find myself working on things because I don't want to take my eyes off it.

While I love the look of Apple's cinema monitors, the price point is just so high. The HP w2207 represents a far more reasonable price point. Also, if you're a writer like me, HP makes a clip system for this series of monitors, so you can have a document holder off to the side without having to glue something to side of your monitor untiil the end of time.

If you're an art director, graphic designer, or similar artists thinking, "Ah-ha, this guy's a copywriter. What does he know about monitors?" Well I've been in advertising since 1996 and I've seen all kinds of monitors and this is one of the most impressive I've ever seen at any price.

Also, I took sometime to compare this model to others available for sale from a variety of manufacturers and no one matches the image quality in my opinion. This might seem strange for HP to come out on top in comparison to other companies that specialize in monitors, but the truth is people largely, buy their computers based on the quality and look of the monitor. Apple realized this early on and apparently someone told HP too. I wonder how many HP computer bundles are going to be sold based on the performance of this beauty?

Sure, it takes a little adjustment both on the monitor itself and on the display portion of the system preferences, but it's easy enough.

Plus, the built in speakers are much better than you'd expect from a monitor and the built in 2 USB hub is a nice little touch. More would have been better, but an extra usb port is always nice.

All of this said, there are some flaws with this monitor.

1. The rotating screen landscape-or-portrait function is great, but it doesn't work with the MacBook in Mac mode. What I'm talking about is the ability to physically turn the monitor and have the display go into a portrait arrangement. It's probably too much to ask for from a monitor made by a PC manufacturer, but it would have been nice if the software bundle would have included something for us, Mac people. It still works with the MacBook just fine in landscape mode, but it would have been nice to have this particular bell and whistle.

2. The monitor does have a DVI connection as well as an analog VGA connection, but it only comes with an analog VGA wire. Don't settle for VGA, when there's DVI to be had! Order a DVI wire with your order like this one.Cables To Go 2m DVI-D M/M Dual Link Digital Video Cable The response time is appreciably faster than with VGA. It's slight, but it's there.

3. Hopefully, this won't be an issue, but its warranty is for only one year, while others come with a three year warranty. This is a little disconcerting, but I'd rather have one year of looking at this screen than 3 years of looking at washed out or drab monitor.

4. The screen does pick up reflections more readily than other flat panels.

And even with these shortcomings, I've still got to give it 5 stars. It's just that beautiful!

UPDATE: Although mine did not, this monitor now does come with a DVI cable. So you won't need to buy one separately.

Eye-Fi Connect X2 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card

First off, there are several different Eye-Fi models so I suggest you get the one with the features you need. The "X2" models now have the Class 6 rating which is great news for fast D-SLR's with high megapixels (18+, etc) or taking 1080p HD video to ensure the data transfer rate can keep up with the recording.

The X2 adds the Class 6 rating, 802.11 b/g/n capability and endless memory. All of which were major concerns with the older models when using them in modern D-SLRs.

I chose this one because the X2 Pro offers RAW image transfers and Ad hoc mode. If you do not take pictures in RAW format and/or do not care to transfer directly from Camera to Laptop via WiFi, then get the X2 Explore for $50 cheaper.

Setup is a breeze. When you first put the card into the computer, it will ask if you want to install the software. You can use the web based settings manager if you do not want to install any software. I chose to install the Eye-Fi Manager software. Very functional.

The first thing it will ask you to do is to select a network to connect to. I chose mine at home and configured the WPA2 security in seconds.... it connected and asked me to put the card into my camera and take a test picture.

I did so and withing seconds, my T2i's display showed that the eye-fi was connected and transferring data. The computer software system tray icon lit up and confirmed this too.

I took an 18mp picture for the test which turned out to be about 22mb RAW and 7mb jpeg. It finished the transfer quickly.

There are many custom features you can set to tell it what to do with the pictures. I have mine set to transfer to my HDD and MobileMe account. There are about 25 online services you can automatically upload to.

I do like the fact that you can set it to upload to a "private" album so it is not automatically "shared".

You can add multiple cards to one account and manage them all through the software. I currently have 3 Eye-Fi cards (2 x 8GB X2 Pro for my D-SLR and 1 x 8GB X2 Explore for my point and shoot).

You can configure each card separately to deliver the pictures where you would like them.

I recommend this card.

UPDATE: I have been using this card all day today and through several battery cycles. There is a significant drop in battery life while using this card, which is understandable because it is transmitting via WiFi.

I am using the Canon T2i and the camera has an Eye-Fi menu within which I can disable the WiFi. The battery does last longer when I shut off the Eye-Fi card (WiFi). So something to think about, maybe get a spare battery or get a camera with Eye-Fi menu support.

I purchased this Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Ultimate Pro Package last week. I am a huge Canon camera fan and this is my first DSLR. It is so easy to use and does not feel cheap like some other cameras do. Its just the right weight....not too heavy but not too light. The bundle contains alot of useful items. The extra battery and charger with the adapter to charge in the car will come in handy on trips. The extra lenses and filters are a plus too. Everything that is listed in the description is in the box. I have been taking pictures non stop. I love it!! This is definetly worth the money!

Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. I was looking for a ten inch tab, but didn't have a lot of cash. I already have the Acer Iconia A-100, which is a great tablet. But i wanted a 10 incher. When i first got it, it ran fine but there was no Google App Store, bummer, So I got the Amazon App Store. everything was working fine but when I loaded Netflix it didn't work, the app loaded fine but the screen would just go blank. I called Coby Customer Service and they said it was a problems with Adobe flash not running right? Anyways, with Coby you actually get a live person however, you may not get one that knows anything. So i looked around on the internet and found that this is a problem with the tablet. I also found a solution. A tech advised to reboot the system and erase factory files. Here is the message ---"Power the unit off (holding power buttom) and selecting Power off, then hold simultaneusly back button and on buttom 8 seconds,when the android icon appears press the back button, in the menu select wipe data/factory reset pressing home buttom and then press back buttom, in the next screen select "yes delete all user data" pressing back buttom, and in the next screen select "reboot system now" with the back buttom and wait. IT WORK FOR MY TABLET." ------

After doing this download the Good e-Reader app store through Getjar. The Good e-Read app store has everything. Netflix now works great on my tablet. I was also able to down load pretty much every app the Google Play Store has. They even have the Google Play Store app. Anyways, after doing this my tablet runs smoother, seems to be faster and everything works. Took this tablet from a 3 to a 5 star. I now love this tablet. Oh, when doing this it will erase things (music, pics, videos) on the tablet but not on the SD Card.

I am going to start this review by defining the term "Netbook"

Netbooks are a category of small, lightweight, legacy-free, and inexpensive laptop computers. At their inception in late 2007 as smaller notebooks optimized for low weight and low cost — netbooks omitted certain features (e.g., the optical drive), featured smaller screens and keyboards, and offered reduced computing power when compared to a full-sized laptop. (Wikipedia, 2013)

I have done this because I am tired of seeing reviews of people who bought this product expecting to be able to play Call of Duty, surf the net, watch netflix, and do homework all at the same time. It is a netbook people, it is made to be portable, light weight, and do basic computing such as typing a document, and surfing the web. Can it do those other things? I do not know because I use it for its intended purpose. With that said, I am very happy with my netbook. I bought the bundle Amazon offered and it included the Acer Netbook, 2gb RAM chip, and a neoprene carrying case which I am all happy with! The netbook is not blazing fast, but it is not super slow either. I have the 2gb RAM in and I am fine with the speed. It comes with Windows 7 starter, which is a great OS for this netbook. I also have a distro of linux on mine (mint13). I have it set up so that it gives me the choice of what OS I want to run at boot up... and the netbook handles it perfectly. I have a full size laptop, but I bought this so that I can take it with me where ever I go as I am a full time student and full time police officer. This netbook gives me that portability I was lacking with me 16" laptop.

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a portable, lightweight device with a keyboard to surf the net, write a paper, facebook... this is it! I reccommend the bundle or atleast a 2gb RAM upgrade! If you are looking for a gaming computer, or a laptop that you can run autocad on or play COD... look else where!
