I've been in search of a backpack that didn't scream "photo bag," that still kept the roominess of a traditional backpack while protecting my gear. I bought the Kata D-467i but found it too big. I'm 5'2" and the backpack looked like a giant square space pack on my back. That was quickly returned. Then I saw the Clik Elite Compact Sport bag, and while the camera compartment is nice, the extra space for other things was tiny. I then found the Clik Elite Cloudscape, which turned out to be the perfect find.

I carry a Nikon D90 with an attached 18-70mm lens, a 35mm prime lens and flash. For the above three items, the pouch that's attached to the inside upper part of the backpack is perfect. There's room for travel guides, sketch books and even notebooks. The bag retains the functionality of the backpack. There are two water bottle holders on the sides, or you can use it to carry a tripod. There's a zippered compartment on the front of the bag for memory cards, batteries, etc. and this space is generous too.

Access to the camera gear is easy; two velcro straps secure the equipment in the "marsupial" pouch. You can swing the bag around without placing it on the ground and get to your camera. An additional feature I was looking for that's present in the Cloudscape is the sternum and waist straps for longer hikes (equipment starts to feel heavy after a while).

I highly recommend this pack to fellow architects who travel with camera and sketch materials on hand, and those who go on day hikes and need to pack food, drinks and a change of clothes.
