I looked around at many ring flashes for macro. There were not a whole lot of reviews for this product. Nissin products have good quality associated with what they produce. I figured that they know what they are doing when it comes to photography and optics. I am very happy with this flash. I use it for all occasions, just not macro. But as far as the macro settings are concerned, they are top notch. This flash is very well engineered. The command at the macro level is outstanding. 1/6 steps of control. I have done a lot of testing and what they claim is true to form. 1/6 of a step is is a very small increment and their product delivers it. Their are about 20 steps at the macro level. You have at your command a super tight command of light for any situation. My setup is a Canon 20D and this flash works perfectly with it. I have tried out a lot of functions that the flash has to offer and I can't find anything to complain about. They have delivered a quality product.
