The APS-C sensor used in the NX1100 is quite good. Excellent in fact. You should shop around on price, of course, as this camera is listed multiple times on Amazon, but the current price here for this white body(

I must say instead of purchasing from Amazon I couldn't wait and tested out cameras in Best Buy and was completely sold on this camera and paid $20 more +tax. It feels a little on the cheap side? Maybe just because it's light weight which I do like. It was very easy to connect to security enabled wi-fi and send pictures to facebook and email. Some things I believe require you to connect to a computer. The camera is very intuitive and hints automatically pop up on the screen to further explain what a feature can help you with. I have not picked up the manual yet. As another reviewer said the flash is odd but works very well. I think the way the flash is lends me to lean toward that cheap feeling because it seems as though it could be broken easily the way it is attached. However, the camera detects if you open it and then will allow for auto flash when open or flash off if it's closed.

I wondered how point and shoot cameras were going to keep up and this camera is an excellent example. This camera is by far better than any cell phone just with the wide angle and zoom capabilities. With the added sharing, touch screen, and intuitiveness that is integrated it makes it an very neat relatively compact device. It's not as compact as some but way smaller than the larger zoom cameras and is a great compromise.

I have seen a couple cameras with gps and I know one was powered by android. Nice features but I did not see the benefit of having a lot of those features on my camera when I have them on my phone? Also, the price of that camera was significantly more.

Also something to note. This camera actually has a low light sensor that compensates for the light level versus detecting the light level and adjusting the shutter speed. When your shutter speed is slower to allow more light in this gives you more time to move the camera and means image stabilization has more to process. In other words it doesn't work very well. The samsung has a quick shutter speed in low light situations and does a nice job of compensating for the light therefore also making your pictures clearer and brighter. This is from my experience and the BB rep gave me a demonstration of it when I had narrowed my choices between a canon elph with wifi and the samsung.

I've owned about 10 GRaid drives over the past few years. I thought it was just me.....nearly a 75% failure rate.

I purchased two new Graid Gen4 2tb drives in October 2010. One drive was totally dead, DOA, right out of the box.

GTech informed me today that "We no longer repair drives." Oh. Maybe they were thinking something else, but that really gives me pause about customer service and warranty reliablility.

Need further proof? Simply go to and look under FORUMS. There you will find one for GTech. Man you will get an eye full! "Now my 2nd GRAID is failing!" "Lost all data, HELP!" "Drive won't mount". "Power button won't work." "Drive makes strange noises". And my favorite, "Are all GTech drives really bad, or is it just me?"

Nope, it isn't "just you". I've had the president of GTech call me and replace ALL of my GRAID drives because I raised such a stink about the lousy quality and the failure rate. At that time, I had 3 or 4 drives fail in a year--one only 9 months new, and the replacement RMA drive failing after 30 days!

Now this....2 new drives, purchased here through Adorama (which I hold totally blameless) and one of them is totally dead. According to GTech, my only option is to return the drive to Adorama and have them ship me another drive--with no assurances that it will work, either.

I would love to really believe in or trust GTech, but no longer. As soon as I can afford it, I will replace my 4 (hopefully) running GRaid drives with another manufacturer.

I'm not a nut. I don't have my video editing suite located over power lines, or an ancient Indian burial ground. They are in an air conditioned room with superb ventilation. But they don't last. They don't work. They fail, and have cost me countless hours of tears and headaches as I try to rebuild my video projects.

I'm now living in terror that the one GRaid I just bought will fail any moment--just read the Creative Cow blogs if you don't believe me.

It is my first DSLR camera and you cannot buy the body only, you must have a couple of devices. Everything included is awesome products EXCEPT the screen protector which was lost in the first day besides the work and bubbles when I was placing it.

The bag is excellent and fits everything which comes with the kit plus another lense. Also the bag is original from Nikon.

The battery extra is very handling and I liked the extra charger which has support to international outlets and has car adapter. The memory card is a great one to store your memories and with reasonable storage space and writing speed. The cleaning kit is awesome and has everything you need to mantain your lenses and camera, the remote control is another important device to take picture of yourself and those pictures from the tripod without shaking, you will use it a lot! The tripod is perfect size for travel and comes with a bag to carry it. The hdmi cable is another required to show it on tv and you really need since the display is small to give you all picture details. The flash is very basic, I have been happy with the built-in but you will need it to cover wedding and other events. Finally the lense is original from Nikon and the right size to carry it on your adventures, the 300mm is too big, 18-200mm you cover 90% of your needs. I recomend you just add a fish eye lense and a 35mm or 50mm to make your camera lighter. The filter is very important in order to protect your lenses against accident and also it is easier to clean a filter than a camera. Finally the wallet to store memory cards it is handy even though I am not using it since the camera comes with 2 slots which for me it is more than enough storage.

About the camera, I am very pleased with the photos quality and features. You must read a book to understand about the aperture, iso and shuttle to take full advantage. The automatic modes will not do all the work. I have been using it for 2months so far and it is amazing. I recommend to buy a silicone cover to protect the body.

Okay, I admit it, I was driven to check out the Leica digital rangefinder cameras because of the great time I've been having and the excellent photos I've been taking with their little X2 point-and-shoot!

The rangefinder paradigm is admittedly not for everybody but if you ever fell in love with shooting 35mm film on a Contax or a Zeiss Ikon, the M9 might be just the perfect digital camera for you!

The body is solid and the build quality is unequaled. A perfect fit in the hand with just the right amount of heft, it's great to know that highly engineered objects of this kind of precision and quality are still being made! You'd be hard pressed to find any plastic on this camera! Let me just get this out of the way now: The Leica does indeed cost a bundle but is worth every penny. Also, for what it's worth, the new M-E version is $1500 cheaper than the M9 though it is, for all intents and purposes, identical. Used M9s are even better deals, especially if you find one with a low shutter count.

I shot Canon gear for years and finally, after some considerable time hands-on with Leica rangefinders, I've completely liquidated my 5DmkII and a bunch of Canon "L" lenses. The M9, a spare battery and three lenses all fit in a tiny camera bag that only weighs a few pounds! Compared to the bag I used to lug my DSLR and lenses around in, this is practically effortless, plus it's much more discrete to carry as well as shoot. The compactness of the M9 is unrivaled. People don't react in the same way to the M9 as they did to my huge DLSR they're more relaxed and comfortable. This thing just doesn't look that imposing. ;)

The Leica M lenses are simply phenomenal! They're extremely sharp, even in the extreme corners (where my Canon L glass didn't fare so well). These lenses are sharp and contrasty even when shot at wide open apertures and that even applies to the wide-angle lenses! The 50mm Summicron and 35mm Summilux have been excellent partners for this camera, though my favorite is the 21mm ultra-wide Elmarit as it's helped me to capture stunning landscapes and seascapes in contrast and clarity I could only dream of before.

The CCD sensor in the M9 and the new M-E buck the CMOS trend of most modern digital cameras and certainly affords the Leica a unique image signature that is absolutely lovely. Overall, I've found it to be very film-like. From my own experience, I've noticed that the M9's files require much less post-processing than my Canons or any of my other cameras.

If size and image quality are paramount, and you like the rather considered process of using a rangefinder with a manual focus lens, then maybe the Leica M9 or M-E is a good fit for you. It's certainly worth trying as it is so radically different to a DSLR. Though a good photographer can take a great picture with just about any camera, a superb one like this certainly makes it a lot easier to get the results and consistency I want.

Rent one, see if you like it, and if you do, take your time, save up and buy one. :)

I purchased this as my new WA lens. However, it was not what I hoped for.

PROS:

Great range

Constant aperture

Great build quality

Smooth operation

Sharp as a tack (when in focus, see below).

CONS:

Somewhat softer at the long end, but not bad.

AF operation what hit and miss on this copy (Front focus errors sometimes). I have had several Tokina lenses, so that was a surprise.

Minor niggle: Zoom ring could be wider.

Overall, this represents a great value in its class, and from what I see, others have better AF performance than I did. So, I might have given 5 stars had my copy been good with AF.

I bought this camera due to a recommendation from a friend that knows cameras. I wanted a point and shoot but I ended up with, at least for me, a high end camera. It feels good in your hand, the pictures are crystal clear, and you can do anything with it except shoot RAW but I don't care....because after all I just wanted a good point and shoot. This camera goes well beyond a point and shoot if you want it too and with the deal I got the value is outstanding. The zoom is remarkable and I still can't believe I have this much camera for the amount of money I spent.
