We used this to connect the Raspberry Pi to a brand new HP 19" VGA only monitor. It didn't work at first, but there is a simple setting on your Pi that will make it work. There is a "config.txt" file inside the /boot folder that needs the line "#hdmi_safe=1" uncommented. Once you uncomment that line and reboot, this adapter will work fine.
