I ordered this after I'd purchased a Uniden Guarien G755 system with two extra cameras... That system was super simple to hook up and get going ... but after that, there wasn't much good about it. Range on the wireless cameras was awful, the length of the power lines wasn't great, and most importantly you could not view remotely and record at the same time. With it, you could only either have it set to record or set to view remotely (connected to the internet). Which made it useless to me.
So I returned it and bought this.
Yes, I have to run lines, but it's just ethernet. Not power. The DVR is amazing you can pretty much do whatever you want to with it.
The only hiccup I had was in setting up the port forwarding on my router. Leave the web port blank.
The mobile app is pretty sweet too.
