I love this lens. Sharp, fast focus. Great for outdoor use, on a sunny day preferably. This is not a low light tele by any means, but it certainly helps bring the action up close and personal. Ken has a great detailed write up on his site:
The rest of the items in the package or mostly just fluff. I use the UV filter as a scratch cap, and the hood is only for direct sun. The tripod is quite light and serviceable, very basic.
